Burlap Inspiration: Burlap Framed Nest

Spring and Bird’s Nests go hand and hand, so does Burlap and Spring!
This project was very quick and easy to make.

Materials Used:
Canvas Corp:  10″x10″ Burlap Stretched Canvas, Hemp Cord,
Burlap Square Shape, Canvas Mini Tag Shape, Mini Clothespins
Tattered Angels:  Caribbean Blue Spray
Cosmo Cricket:  Tiny Type stickers
American Crafts:  Thickers
Beacon Adhesive:  FabricTac
Other:  Birds Nest, Paper Mache Eggs {from Hobby Lobby},
Coffee Filters, Silk for the rosette

First, use the Tattered Angels glimmer mist spray on the  burlap shape and
Paper mache eggs.  Let dry.
Turn the Burlap Stretched Canvas around to the backside.
Let the burlap fray to give the natural look and feel.

I used 5 of the natural colored coffee filters and played with the shape, you
can also spray them with the Glimmer Mist.  I tacked the filters together with a stitch, then
used FabricTac to attach to the middle.

Spray the Glimmer Mist on the Paper Mache Egg to turn them blue.
In this picture it shows what the egg looks like before it was sprayed.
I was very pleased with how they turned out!
I also took some of the burlap strings and wrapped them
into the nest.

To cover the staples around the edges of the backside,
use the Canvas Corp Hemp Cord around the edge.  I just did one
time around, you can certainly do more if you would like.
FabricTac is awesome to use for this!

Spray the Glimmer Mist on the Canvas Mini Tag Shape.  The great thing about
Tattered Angels spray is that you can spray a little or as much to get
the color that you are wanting.  It also can give a shading effect.
I made a tiny silk rosette by cutting 3 circles and “burning” the
edges close to a candle flame.  I then attached it to a Mini Clothespin.
I also sprayed the American Crafts Thicker stickers, they were
just a chipboard color.

I hope you enjoyed this project.

Love it! I love burlap too. I recently made a ruffled Spring Burlap Wreath.
    You can see it here.
