DIY Duel Menu & Notice Board

Whether you’re a newlywed or have a family of 12, knowing how to grocery shop and meal plan effectively is important… Otherwise, you may end up eating cereal for dinner. For some of us, if the grocery list isn’t in writing, only half the items will actually make it home.  Sharon’s DIY Menu and Notice Board, planning is made simple! Not only is it cute and classy, it is useful. With a chalk board and a notepad, you will never forget to buy eggs at the store again.

This fun and simple, 6-step process, allows you to create your very own, personalized board. Trust us, this will be a great addition to your kitchen.  Sharon uses some papers from the past, so we are recommending current papers that will coordinate perfectly with this project.

Ink around the edges of the base board with ink pad and leave to dry.  Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist or High Impact Paints are also great options for adding color to your wood frame.  Glimmer Mist will tint the wood and High Impact will cover it completely.

Step Two:

Using the Xyron machine for the smaller pieces of card and printed tissue paper (Canvas Corp printed tissue has thin coating of wax making it stronger than standard tissue and perfect for craft projects), start to add the elements to the base board.

Step Three:

Step Four:

Cut the printed burlap to size, you can leave the edges rough and adhere them into place or you can wrap the burlap around a piece of foam or cardboard to finish the edges and create a push pin board and then add to your project.  Then add the Menu Cards (they come 10 to a pack) you can replace them as you fill them with the family menu for the day or the week or ring them and flip them over as you complete each week.  You can also use our Journal Lines on Ivory Paper to create you note book for writing notes and recipes and cut the lines to size.

Step Five:

Add Chalkstock (our special paper where you can write with chalk and it will erase or with a white pen) to base board using double-sided tape and write with chalk pen.  You can cut multiple pieces of Chalkstock and replace them as you fill them with notes or use chalk and erase with a damp cloth.

Step Six:

Attach mini clothespins to the top of the board and black small ones to the bottom.  They are perfect for business cards or a menu from your favorite Carry Out Restaurant, the butcher or your favorite baker in town, so you have their numbers close at hand.  We know our smart phones keep all these details for us these days, but keeping your favorite places in plain site on this cute memo board is a fun and creative way to keep it organized.

Add the twisted cord to make a hanger at the top and embellish with your favorite sayings, boarders and paper embellishments to make it your own.
