DIY Kitchen Memo Board

We love this idea for a memo board that is perfect for the kitchen, kitchen nook, studio or office.  We love to repurpose 7gypsies trays into functional items that we can use everyday and this garden inspired kitchen memo board is beautiful and useful.

Top 4 boxes – for fun we took our Birds & Bees on Ivory and cut into 4 pieces so you can see the whole picture when you look at the boxes, so make sure as you cut those birds and bees into pieces that you light them up into the boxes.

CCP2848 Birds & Bees on IvoryIn the 5.25″x4″ space fill with cuts of 12×12 Chalkstock Paper, cutting the 12×12 up to fit, you can layer more than one of the chalkstock pieces and add notes with chalk which you can erase with a damp cloth or make permanent notes with a white chalk paint.  You can glue them into place or just let them sit in the section so you can take them out and write on them.

Now it is time to create you push pin board with our Farmhouse Kitchen Fabric Panel.  Choose the section you like the most (we just love the artichoke) and color it in with a paint brush and Glimmer Mist Olive Vine, but you can choose your favorite green Mist with our without glimmer.  You can color in the other icons or focus on the artichoke, that is up to you.  Cut the fabric piece approximately 7″ across and 5.5″ up and down.  Then cut a piece of cardboard, recycled box or foam core 6.75″x5.25″ (you might want to make it slightly smaller to allow the fabric to wrap around and fit into the space.  You will then center the fabric and glue to the board and wrap all sides and glue to the back.  To hold them in place you can glue a piece of scrap paper if necessary.  Then glue into the space or fit it snuggly in.  This allows you to use push pins and add notes, business cards, appointment cards or your favorite carry out restaurant phony number.

Working with Cardstock weight has its advantages so fussy cutting one of the birds from the Birds and Bees on Ivory paper to create a pocket to hold your favorite recipe cards, photos or notes looks great on the bottom left spot on the memo board.  You can leave the art as is or watercolor with Glimmer Mist.

You might not choose blue, but you can see how great this bird looks all colored up.

The next box is the prefect size to hold the wallet size you get each year with your school photos or you are given by friends and family.  Love to look at them, but never sure where to put them, make this little pocket and you can put as many as you want, switch them out if you have a stack.

We love our little 2×2 stretched burlap and 2×2 stretched canvas and we love that theyfit just right in the center bottom spot.  We decoupaged one of the art pieces with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam – Camel.View More: http://gladdenphotography.pass.us/canvas-corp-garden-two

The last section is natural burlap wrapped around a 4×6 piece of foam core orrecycled box board, you will want to add 1″ or so all the way around to wrap the burlap to the back and glue into place.  We love to use Beacon’s 3 in 1 for fabric and it dries totally clear.  Next you will want to criss cross Avocado Hemp Cord to make a mini photo board.  Add Jacobean Mini Clothespins or a coordinating mini clothespin.

Garden Memo

When complete there are great places to keep emergency phone numbers, frequently called numbers, local business cards, favorite recipes, family photos, upcoming party invitations, save the dates, to do notes and just pretty little things you like to keep.  Try it the kitchen and garden way or try something completely different with this shabby chic look using Gypsy Moments, in just about the same way, this is a great memo board to do your way.

We hope you love these memo boards as much as we do, perfect gifts for teachers, sisters, moms or a great friend.  Time to start thinking about holiday gifts if you are going to make them and we know whomever you make this memo board will love it.

Happy Creating!!!
