DIY Painted Photo Signs

Prom season is among us, outdoor wedding season is in full swing and senior photos will pick up again.  What better way to remember the day then with DIY painted signs that features the year, the date or the name of the new couple.  Photographs of big groups are a trendy thing right now, so creating fun signs, going to fun locations and looking for great ways to show off your group is what it is all about.  Choosing a unique place that has some nostalgia is a great place to start, like the Inn at Carnall Hall on the University of Arkansas Campus.  This old building was the perfect setting for prom photos and even more perfect for wedding photos and to host a wedding.

The walls were filled with vintage pieces from the area, including amazing photos and memorabilia from the University.  The details can be part of your photos or you can take advantage of the big open spaces, amazing staircases and beautiful setting.

Prom goers sat on the stairs with care in hopes that someone would not dare to take one more photo, but they looked on with a grin.  This grand staircase held all 16 in the group and could have held a few more.  Photographing big groups can be tricky business.

This handmade sign calls out the prom year for all to remember as they look through these photos for years to come.  To create the sign, nail a few old boards together, find a sign you can paint over or a lid to a vintage crate.  Paint the front with the wedding or school colors with Tattered Angels Decor and DIY Paint.  Available in 28 colors and it will paint on any surface, so you can make a sign on metal, plastic, wood, etc.  Then add the details with Tattered Angels High Impact Paint.  High Impact paints come in metallic and pigment colors and the paint is rich and thick and paints on like a dream.

Add painted letters like the word prom or the name of the bride and groom with your painted sign and together you get to say what you want to say.

You might not remember years from now which prom it was, where the event was, so this is a great way to help you remember. Hold the signs or set them near the group, so you want to make them light enough to hold or set anywhere the group goes.

So before the pictures are taken at your next prom, wedding or special event consider making a sign with the date, the year or the names of the party and add them to your photo party.  You can also have each couple hold the sign for individual photo and you can create the sign to match your surroundings.  So when looking for a place to photo your next wedding, prom, homecoming or engagement photos, look for one with personality, unique entities and secret nooks and crannies.
