DIY Vintage Metal Necklace

Wearing cool and funky jewelry is such the fashion these days and prompts admirers to ask where you got it or if you made it. Crew Member Kyriakos Pachadiroglou decided to see what could be done with a few 7gypsies hangers.  These fun spiral metal hangers are great for paper crafting but look like jewelry art.

Turn the mini round hangers into a modern necklace that can be altered further with beads. The number and the position of the hangers can be changed to match a different dressing look. It is very easy to make and you can choose which beads colors will best suit you.
Materials Used:
Canvas Corp – Waxed Cotton Cord – Black 45′
H&CF Glass Pearls – 4mm Black #7703
Jump rings
Lobster clasp
Tools Used: Round nose pliers; Flat nose pliers; Glue
Start creating your necklace by laying it flat before you begin clipping and clasping anything.  You can decide on the length, the focal piece, and where it will clasp so that you put all the right pieces in all the right places.  This is best done by positioning the hangers on a flat surface.

Choose all the same metals or be creative and mix them up a bit.  You can also look at broken jewelry for loose jump rings, beads and other trinkets that will look amazing on your new necklace.
One by one join the hangers together with a jump ring or by bending the hangers end. You can also intersect the hangers before securing.
When doing mixed media, jewelry making, and basic crafting, it is fun to use your supplies in unique ways.
