Farmhouse Pillow and other DIY Kitchen Projects

Farmhouse is one of our favorite design styles and we love the Canvas Corp Farmhouse Kitchen and Farmhouse Christmas collections.  These include vintage kitchen and holiday art on fabric, paper and embellishments.  The collections are neutral and look great that way or you can add a touch of color to match your design style.  Today on the blog, Crew Member Sheila Rumney shows us how to make a simple farmhouse themed burlap pillow.  We love how amazing a sofa, bed or porch looks when a few new pillows are added.  Canvas Corp offers a wide range of burlap and canvas pillows in assorted shapes and sizes.  Each pillow is cut and sewn in Springdale, Arkansas…American made one at a time and ready for your creative touch.

This simple farmhouse style pillow was so easy, I completed it in an hour.
Step 1 – Trim the canvas panel to fit your pillow. For this pillow, the back of the pillow cover was used.

Step 2 – Sew the lace under the pillow pocket by using a simple running stitch.  If you love to sew on the machine, feel free to add your personal sewing skills!!!

Step 3 – Add your favorite colors of Tattered Angels High Impact Paint.  They’re perfect for fabric, burlap, finished wood, raw wood and other textured surfaces.

Step 4 – Blot some of the High Impact Olive Paint off on a paper towel then add it to the panel to give a light, subtle appearance.

Step 5 – Once that is dry, follow the Wonder-Under Fusible Web instructions to fuse the canvas panel to the pillow cover. As added extra reinforcement, sew around the edge of the canvas panel.  Here is a great video on how to use the Fusible Web.

Step 6 – Add hemp rope and a button to complete.

By adding other designs of Canvas Corp printed canvas sheets to the pillow covers, you can easily change the theme of your decor from the holidays, to spring, to gardening, to farmhouse or rustic cowboy. Hope this inspires you to create a few pillows to mix and match.
