We couldn’t think of a better way to start a Tuesday, then by sharing our next featured crew member in our ongoing CCB series where we feature a member of the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew. These stories allow us to show you what who our designers are, what inspires them, which mediums they enjoying working in and their favorite projects. We work with such a talented crew of diverse designers who love to share the latest techniques, while showing us new ways to use their art supplies. The fascinating part of our journey is our crew who can be fun around the globe. This allows us to travel to various locales, experience a variety of cultures and witness a diverse set of creative views.
Today our journey takes us to the picturesque town of Sempeter, Slovenia, here we introduce you to a wonderful artist, Jana Korečič. For those who don’t know Šempeter pri orici meaning “San Pietro di Gorizia” in Italian, the town is the administrative centre of the Municipality of Šempeter–Vrtojba in the Slovene Littoral region of Slovenia. There is a border crossing into the Italian town of Gorizia. The crossing is known as San Pietro di Gorizia in Italian. Through most of its history, it was linked to the town of Gorizia (Slovene:Gorica), which is now in Italy, whence also its name, literally meaning ‘St. Peter near Gorizia’. Jana makes an amazing addition to our CCB Crew. Her presence on our team has filled us with a burst of creativity bringing a paper and mixed media vibe to our crew. Her work as she describes is: a combination of everything that inspires me and my thoughts”. We agree, each one of her pieces lures us into a world of sporatic color which she is constantly bringing to life through layers of paper, paint and ink. Jana describes when entering her blog you will “find a piece of me that is constantly searching to bring out of me something that needs to be expressed and invented!” We are so excited that she has been apart of our creative journey and that we are able to share her world with our creative community. Our story continues to be told through our products, projects and through our incredible crew, like our featured crew member Jana.
Every crew member was asked to submit their favorite design team works for this story. Here is one that we loved, A Crown Canvas. Its purely magical and enchanting, just like Jana.
Jana’s design style can best be described as…”I follow my own style Gothic Fairy tale…. I love a lot of symbolism and hidden meanings in my projects and I love to make them speak and leave a moment of art anxiety.”
Jana was inspired most to be creative by….”My mom.”That is such a great response. Hearing that your Mom inspires you, also inspires us.
What inspires you most today? “Music, the unknown, the perception of something parallel and magical.”
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? “Glimmer mist. A classical avant/garde!” We have to agree with Jana on this one.
What is one of your favorite Canvas Corp Brands Projects you have created?
“Hearts are not perfect or better said – they are not intact. Many things or events can hurt the heart and can produce scars and sporadic bleeding but somehow it stays together and becomes stronger. An experienced heart can offer some strong support and it can always keep it’s shape. Just have some thread and a needle at hand at anytime!”
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?
I am the happiest doing…..”I enjoy thinking about new ideas and new goals..” This is something we should all be doing. Thinking up new ideas, writing them down and setting new goals. Love this Jana.
We are happiest when Jana is creating. Here is another magical work of art that she created during the holidays. Its a fairy tale paper Christmas trees. This is the kind of project that you can create for any holiday or season. All you need is some Canvas Corp or 7 Gypsies Paper, glitter and glue.
My favorite place to be creative…..”Home. My home inspires me and always offers hidden treasures for my projects!” We agree with Jana on this. Home is where the heart is and where we create most of the time.
Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…”My studio is a small room, a messy hole that offers the cosyness of the perception that time doesn’t exist.”
