FEATURED CREW MEMBER – SANNA LIPPERT

We couldn’t think of a better way to wind down the week, then by sharing our next featured crew member in our ongoing CCB series where we feature a member of the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew. These stories allow us to show you what who our designers are, what inspires them, which mediums they enjoying working in and their favorite projects.  We work with such a talented crew of diverse designers who love to share the latest techniques, while showing us new ways to use their art supplies. The fascinating part of our journey is our crew who can be fun around the globe. This allows us to travel to various locales, experience a variety of cultures and witness a diverse set of creative views.  Today our journey takes us to the picturesque town of Brunn am Gebirge located in Lower Austria. For those who don’t know “Brunn am Gebirge” translates to “Fountain on a Mountain”. Sanna makes an amazing addition to our CCB Crew. Her presence on our team has filled us with a burst of creativity and brings a mixed media vibe to our crew.  Her talent with paper and paint mediums fills us with so much inspiration. Each one of her pieces lures us into a world of color which she brings to life through layers of paper, paint and ink. Sanna’s work makes us want to pull out our supplies and create a mixed media masterpiece. We are so excited that she has been apart of our creative journey and that we are able to share her world with our creative community. Our story continues to be told through our products, projects and through our incredible crew, like our featured crew member Sanna.

Everyone of our Crew Members was asked to create a 4×4 Canvas that represents themselves and their personal style. In Sanna’s case this canvas is also her favorite piece of artwork that she has created using Canvas Corp Brands Products. Its know wonder she loves it, because we do too. Its simply magical, gorgeous.

Sanna’s design style can best be described as…”I am really bad at describing my style, but there is quite a lot of color going on in my work and I like to work with many different mediums, so colorful mixed media art might be the best way to describe my style.  I also love to alter and repurpose items.  I love to use stamps, stencils, paints, inks and all kinds of media in my work. I like layers, but not too many and always bright, happy colors. And you will always find some kind of embellishments in my work too, but its more often stars, hearts, alphas or maybe flair than flowers.”

Sanna was inspired most to be creative by….”It was the women in my family who all did various handicrafts that pushed me towards crafting, from weaving and sewing to knitting and painting porcelain or baking, many different creative areas. Creativity has been a part of my life since I was very little, it was a natural part of everyday life and I have always been drawn to doing something with my hands. Only years later I discovered online communities, classes, magazines and inspiring creative people like Jennifer McGuire, Shari Carroll, Tim Holtz, Dina Wakley, Ronda Palazzari and many many more.”

What inspires you most today?  “I get inspired by so many things. It can be music, lyrics, weather, advertisements, moods, quotes, photos, magazines, creative friends and networks, online classes. That can be very overwhelming at times. I have sometimes the feeling there are too many tabs open in my brain at once.”

What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? “Well, since I love playing with color, the paints and inks by Tattered Angels are really close to my heart. I love to use them. Next runner up would be all Canvas Corp Brand products I can alter and color with the paints – that would be everything else in their product palette then, I think!”

What is one of your favorite Canvas Corp Brands Projects you have created? 

“This is my recent favorite. I love to repurpose items and create beautiful things and with the inspiration of the Canvas Corp Beans and Bags collection I decided to make this mixed media box that I filled with teas, coffees and chocolate.”  For more info on Sanna’s Fill the Cup Gift Box you will find all the details in this post.  

The box is a work of art and we were lucky enough to have it shipped to us from Austria for CHA where we had it on display for the creative world to see.

I am the happiest doing…..”Mixed media projects of all kinds in my craft room and interacting with my like minded crafty friends! I am so thankful for all the friendships that have developed from this hobby. I have crafty friends scattered basically all over the world and one of my goals is to visit them one day.”

My favorite place to be creative…..”would be my craft room. A cup of coffee, some good music and a new project to get my hands dirty with makes me really happy!”

Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…”The long tables and the fact that most of the stash is within reach. It makes it easy to take things out and actually use them when they are not tucked away in boxes. I also really like the Råskog caddy for storing my inks, paints and media. It´s really practical as I can move it around with me.” 

Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know…

“Despite a crafty life, I am horrible with sewing machines. There is just something about them and me that does not work well together. Another fun fact, I love mint ice cream and liquorice candy.!” 

Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others….”Be creative the way you feel most comfortable with, enjoy the process of creating and never ever compare your work with someone else´s work. That is what I try to live by and follow!”

Sanna has a special way of bring projects to life that help tell the Canvas Corp Brands story.  She blends the brands together allowing each one of them to clearly stand on their own.  We love her functional projects like her repurposed gift box and her handmade Christmas Ornaments or Baubles as Sanna calls them.
