Good For the Creative Soul Challenge - Fishy

We love to do exchanges, support our team and do fun things that keep us creating. In 2018 we want to push our dear Creative Crew into new creative adventures. We want them to push their limits, try new things and evolve their creativity. We decided to create a serie of out of the box challenges that we call “Good for the Creative Soul”. We have figured out 1 special challenge each month.

In August we challenged the Crew to use & fish or two! And NOT in a photo. They could use any technique/material they wanted but it must be 75% CCB products.

Today we share the beautiful work from a few of our Creative Crew Members.

When I heard our awesome challenge theme is “Fishy”, I saw birthday card for real fisherman. I drew the fish by hand and painted them with glimmer mist like as watercolors. Orgins paper is just perfect to background. I colored it with glimmer mist too. That pattern with colors make it looks like water.

Two watercolor Koi Fishes are always together and they are great for sending your ocean of love to somebody special!
And they are my inspiration for our Crew Challenge “Fishes” I used beautiful Tattered Angels Glimmer mists as watercolor paints to create water depth and painting Koi pair. Added golden Glimmer Glam shine and Glimmer Glaze’s splashes to my “ocean” too.

My cats are constantly stealing burlap from my table in my studio. Every time I have it out they pull the pieces down and play with them, so this fish challenge was perfect to make them something of their own. I cut out fish shapes from the bulap and used black yarn to make the faces and then used white yarn to stitch the two sides together. I put a pinch of catnip inside each before stitching them up. This is a super fun way to use your burlap scraps to create something unique and fun!

I thought of my favourite line of the old Beatles song and decided to alter a record with a variety of underwater creatures,including-of course-fish! After the chipboard and stencilling were on and primed, I had a great time using several Tattered Angels mists to create my setting.

It can be so hard to find or create a masculine birthday card. My dad’s birthday is right around the corner and he is an avid fisherman. So this challenge was the perfect push I needed to create him a birthday card!
