GOOD FOR THE CREATIVE SOUL CREW CHALLENGE – TEA & COFFEE

We love to do exchanges, support our team and do fun things that keep us creating.  In 2018  we want to push our dear Creative Crew into new creative adventures. We want them to push their limits, try new things and evolve their creativity. We decided to create a serie of out of the box challenges that we call “Good for the Creative Soul”.  We have figured out 1 special challenge each month.

“I love both coffee & tea – but coffee is preferable, so this project is all about the java! I had a small shadow box (which some wooden die cuts came in so I saved it!) & transformed it into an homage to coffee! I scanned the Beans & Bags paper so that I could make miniature elements. There’s also other coffee-related trinkets, such as whole coffee beans, ground coffee, a coffee poster, an Architextures tile, and spoon among other things.”

“I made a card and a gift-card holder for my BFF; the teacup-shaped card has a pocket at the top that holds a real tea bag, and the gift-card holder has real coffee beans attached and holds a Tim Horton’s card inside.”

“A kraft tag using tea grounds mixed with gesso to create texture and aged color. Dry brushed some Tattered Angels High Impact paint in Aqua to give some interest and color. Added dried tea bags for more layers and texture. Cut out a picture and sentiment from 7 Gypsies, Gypsy Moments paper for focal point. Stamped a few birds for interest and finished with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in dijon. I finished the tag with a vintage zipper for the tassel.”

“Floating Teacup. I used a plain teacup set from the thrift shop and suspended the cup using a spoon and lots of hot glue. The cup was painted with gesso and embellished with white paper roses lace and tea dyed and glimmer mist cheese cloth. The entire project was misted with Sheer pink and then a cherry cordial glimmermist and spattered with mallard color mist. The flowers are in the cup along the spoon and in the saucer the cheesecloth is placed all around cup and saucer.”

“This card I made for the true Lady. She is drinking tea in the afternoon and here house with vintage door. In the front of the house there is a garden with plum and paech trees. In this card I used tea for distressing regular white paper and cotton lace. I love this trick and use it very often because I love vintage style.”

“Decorative tree with coffee beans for cozy kitchen. I made it from styrofoam ball colored with Sable Decor &DIY paint and coffee beans glued on it I added some color and delicate shine with Tattered Angels Glimmer mists around a top. Butterflies were embossed and punched from the Kraft paper . The Coffee topiary tree was set on the pot and placed to a canvas bag, Also I added canvas garland inside and title from The Watering Can collection”

As a former Store Manager for a large coffee chain, this month’s Coffee and Tea Challenge was my cup of tea! Using my new Tattered Angels High Impact Paint, I was able to layer the colors with stencils and texture paste. I LOVE this paint and it has a half opaque and translucent color! Adding some Architextures corrugated cardboard for build up dimension and the background started to brew!!! The challenge asked for real coffee and tea to be incorporated so I used ground and whole coffee for my coffee heart and added a tea bag with tea spoon to represent the tea side! Coffee and Tea are like my yin and yang! I love them both and added some coffee and tea sayings to the mixed media piece! It’s definitely my cup of tea!
