We all live travelling but how about having a walk around your town and finding some amazing gypsy treasures?
That’s exactly what Cathy Frailey did as she went on her gypsy travels around Parkersburg, West Virginia.
I live in an historic area on the Ohio River and we have a lot of antique stores and warehouses.
This area was settled in the late 1700s and has a bevy of old homes, cemeteries, museums, railroads and history.
One of my favorite places is the Nostalgia Antique Mall in Parkersburg, WV.
It’s crammed full of rusty goodness and nostalgia.
Old photos, rusty hardware, kitschy Christmas, clothes to play dress up – I think they had us Gypsies in mind!
Here’s some of the locals on display outside. These critters are made locally by an artisan and don’t last long!
These Jack Daniels oak barrels are always popular as decor pieces, especially in the local breweries.
I’d love to pick one of these up myself!
I bet these folks have seen a thing or two in their day.
I wonder who they are, what’s their story, where have they been.
Old pics are always so intriguing.
This funky fringed lamp speaks to me! That flowered shade is the bees knees!
Look at all these fun doo-dads hanging around! It’s a mixed media artist’s dream!
I love upcycling old kitchen utensils – just look at all that art waiting to happen!
Here’s some Christmas nostalgia! The colors are so kitschy and that angel is divine!
Time to play dress up!
Remember going into your mom’s closet or grandma’s attic and finding all kinds of old hats and shoes and clothes?
It’s so fun to dress up and pretend you’re on an important journey to a make-believe place!
This is one of my favorite corners – so shabby!
I just adore that dresser and flowered seat! So perfect for a secret gypsy boudoir!
What surprise gypsy finds are in your area? Let us know!
