Hand Colored Friendship Card

Charity here from Scrappin’ Chaos with a card and a story.
Several months ago Humans Of New York posted a story about a lady who was having the time of her life at an extended age. She described building friendship through the exchange of books. A few HONY book exchange groups sprung up. In one of these I met Leon and have enjoyed that friendship immensely.  I really want to spoil my long distance book pal and a handmade card seems just right. Here is a tutorial for the card I made Leon.

Directions:
Step 1: Cut Alpha Paper into a 4 x 5.5″ card front and a 9 x 6″ card blank. Fold 9 x 6″ in half with pattern inside.
Why the Alpha paper? Because I received it in my Design Team Kit from CCB Brands but it isn’t a paper I am likely to use. The Creamy color of the cardstock is perfect for a base and the surface texture responds well to Glimmer Mist.
Step 2: Emboss card front. Paint frame with Hemlock Green Glimmer Mist.

Step 3: Cut three circles from the Light Pink Burlap; 2.25″, 1.75″, and 1″.
I traced circle dies and hand cut the burlap circles. The exact size isn’t as important as using concentric circles that are each about 1/2 inch different in size.
Step 4: Paint circles with Black Cherry Glimmer Mist.
I painted the perimeter and the centers as well as a few lines to create petals.

Distressing the edges of the card front give it a shabby chic air and painting it will help it stand out from the card blank.

My hand writing is only average, but this particular card is about the friendship of two very real people, not two perfect people.

I used ScraPerfect’s Best Glue Ever. It worked for all the surfaces with no paper ripples.
Step 10: Add blanks from the Alpha paper inside the card for writing space.
