Making your own pillows is a great way to update your sofa, bed or even chairs around the dining table. You can make them all the same or mix and match the designs. Crew Member Viktoriya Porechnaya shows us how simple it is to stencil onto burlap. Viktoriya choose a vintage country motif but you can choose modern lettering, subway lettering, trendy, rustic, etc. The possibilities are endless! Painting on burlap is not the easiest thing unless you know the trick….use Tattered Angels High Impact Paints or Decor & DIY Paints. The High Impact Paints were developed specifically for painting on burlap and then it was discovered they were perfect for many other surfaces and applications. The new Decor & DIY Paint is also a great option for painting burlap and other porous surfaces. Burlap is loosely woven making it a bit difficult to paint on and the fabric itself loves to pull the paint in, so choosing the right paint is key. You will also want to choose lettering and stencils that have some thickness to them, soft and wispy are not the best option when applying to burlap as the thin parts seem to disappear.
