We are all about the basics, with a focus on papers, paints and embellishments that you can use your way to bring out your personal style. Tattered Angels Tattered Tangles is such a great line of basic papers that give you a place to start, but truly let you go in our own design style direction.
Ilana shows us her style in this whimsy mini book where she uses the black and white art of Tattered Tangles as your backdrop, her highlight pieces and her die cuts, allowing the book to have a cohesive look as if it were made this way just for her. our favorite is the hand-drawn face that adorns the front of the book with her Tattered hairdo.
The photos will walk you through the book where you will see her free flowing use of paint and color with no rules (by the way we love coloring outside of the lines…but if your style is to color inside the lines go right ahead. You can choose any color palette for your book, incorporate your own hand drawn art or use a favorite stamp to add your own details or sayings.
Tattered Tangles are black and white art printed on a special paper that let’s the color float on top just a bit to let you work with it. The finish of the paper let’s the colors just pop. There are so many great techniques you can create on the paper and we are excited to show you Ilana’s.

Tattered Tangles papers are created with hand-drawn black and white Zantangle style art that is perfect for coloring in and outside of the lines, cutting into smaller pieces or leaving as is. Ilana paints be white paperboard in blues and purples and tops it off with a cut from the Stripes Tattered Tangles Paper.
The next page was cut from the Swirls paper. You can cut the paper into the perfect size for your project.
You will want to save every piece, they can be added here and there.
Cut the art apart any way you wish, leaving them black and white and cut into pieces definitely gives this album a very fun and modern look.
The Little Stripes paper is filled with amazing black and white borders that are longing to be part of a layout, card or mini book. We love to color them in, but we really like how they look left black and white.
You can add them to your page before you die cut to make them look as part of the book design.
Cutting the circles up to create the hairdo and painting them let’s them stand out beautifully on the front cover.
You can paint the entire book or add some blank pages with Canvas Corp’s Black and White Journal Lines to turn this book into a journal. What a terrific book to make for your teacher or for teachers to make with their students when doing lessons in color.
