How To Make A Mixed Media Snarky Relatives Tag

Do you love to make tags and are looking for a bit of inspiration?  Well today on the blog, crew member, Besty Skagen, shows us a fun vintage tag filled with some clever ideas that will get you creating.  Make just one or make a bunch and stash them away for your next birthday gift wrap project or maybe a housewarming gift for your favorite vintage gypsy.  We love the serious vintage photo and the wonderfully funny saying!!

See that woman in the picture? She’s one of my ancestors. Shhhh. Don’t tell my mom I am use family photos in irreverent ways! While my mom doesn’t know, I think I have told you before that I like to make snarky things using pictures of my relatives. I addition to the snark, I had so much fun making this with a variety of Canvas Corp supplies. – Betsy

It was so much fun making it, that I thought I would relive the experience in a tutorial just for you.  But before we start we had to look up the word Snarky and here is what we found that being Snarky is making rude comments and maybe nagging a bit…..I wonder if these old photos just make them look that way or if they really could be thinking such funny thoughts.

Tutorial: How to make the Snarky Relatives Altered Tag

Begin by spritizing a card with Tattered Angles Water Baseboard and Sky Baseboard from the Tattered Angels Spring Break Calendar Paint System and use a heat gun to dry.

Add splats of White High Impact Paint and drips of Times Square Glimmer Glam from the same kit and dry.

Next, Cut strips from the 8 x 8 Ordre du Jour Pad. Ink each edge with brown ink and adhere to your tag.  Trim the edges.

Spritz Water Baseboard and Sky Baseboard onto a craft mat and soak a white textured ribbon in the ink until it turns blue. Dry with heat gun. Adhere the ribbon in a criss-cross pattern to the top of the tag and secure the ribbon to the back of the tag. Adhere a small piece of  Burlap to the corner of the tag with glue. Then again spritz the tag with Water Baseboard and Sky Baseboard and dry with heat gun.

Add additional splats of White High Impact Paint and Times Square Glimmer Glam to the card.

For the next step you will need to adorn your Patience Hat. Pour a small amount of glue in a dish and use tweezers to individually dip white micro beads into glue and adhere to the tag.

Print your snarky message and a picture of one of your relatives. Ink the edgess of the message and adhere it and the picture to the tag. To complete your project, thread a piece of sheer ribbon through the hole.

Thanks for stopping by the Canvas Corp Blog today. Have a fabulous day! –Betsy

Oh I love this. I have 100’s of old family photos that sure could fit the ‘snarky’ bill. I’m gonna have to make some tags!
