Some of the Crew have been inspired by our Nautical papers lately! We have seen some fun scrapbook layouts, cards, gift boxes, and today’s post even features home decor!
Nancy Hawes created these fun, beach themed wooden blocks to display on her shelves, and we think this is just an adorable way to repurpose those pieces of scrap wood you may have laying around.
‘I made these fun summer decor blocks to decorate my living room shelves for the summer . I love to create little pieces of art and these blocks are a perfect canvas to embellish with sayings and all sorts of ephemera.’ –Nancy

Nancy started with some of our Nautical Themed papers, some 7Gypsies Junque pack items, and various tags and ephemera from the store. Altering these pieces is so simple with the help of a little ink and colored pencils! You can leave the paper as-is, or add the color you want in order to make it fit your home decor palette!
The 7Gypsies new Architextures Junque pack, “Cabana”, has a definite beachy feel and fits perfectly with this Nautical theme! This pack is full of pieces of texture that you can use as backgrounds, focal points, stencils, and you can even die cut them! The possibilities are endless!
Here, Nancy has her decor blocks displayed on her shelf alongside some other beach items. Bottles, jars, seashells, and driftwood all work together to make the seaside theme work!
We just love the clever arrangement of papers, ephemera, tags, cutouts, twine, clothespins, and a banner that spells out “beach”! All you would need to create this in your own home is a handful of scrap wood blocks and some embellishments. It would be so easy to change up the theme, or even spell out a child’s name for their room!
