Our newest favorite basic fabric is Ticking, one of the oldest fabrics available. Its origin dates back to 1000 AD as a utility fabric that was designed to hold down the inside of pillow cases and bedding. Ticking has come a long way, but was a very important fabric in homes and beds around the world for a long time. Original ticking was very strong and very tightly woven, decorated with a simple “ticking” stripe in a muted color of brown, grey or blue on a natural canvas background, making it a perfect choice for a utility fabric. Ticking today is available in a few different weights and while it features the traditional ticking stripe, the weight and weave is softer and easier to work with. The selection of stripe colors has also expanded.
Ticking can now be seen in home decor projects and is a new staple for interior design projects that have a homespun or a trendy, industrial look. Paired with burlap, vintage fabrics or modern finishes such as stainless or other metals, ticking is a knock-out. Basic burlap and canvas has been on the scene for some time, but there is plenty of room for a new craft, fabric basic to shine this fall.
Canvas Corp announces today the introduction of Ticking in 6 colors – blue, black, red, hot pink, orange and green. Together these colors cover the holidays, trendy color palettes and just work well together. Each of the ticking colors are available in Ticking Flowers, Ticking Fringe, Packaged Ticking (30×36″) and a new tote bag – Double Drawstring Ticking Totes.
These new Double Drawstring bags measure 6″ wide x 8″ tall and are perfect for little gifts, merchandising items you make, screen printing, painting or to give you products away.
This collection blends perfectly with burlap, canvas, lace, denim for a trend industrial look, western or country feel. These flowers are each hand-sewn and measure about 4″ wide, but no two are exactly alike.
Denim is a fabric we have had for a while, but now you will find it in all the basics from flowers to ticking and from packaged goods to wine and drawstring tote bags and from stretched denim to aprons.
Denim is a rugged fabric that comes in about a 1000 different colors, weights and textures. We search the globe to find great denim and pride ourselves that no two pieces are exactly alike. Available in light and dark denim, you will find a full collection to choose from – Denim Collection.
We love how it looks with burlap and 7gypsies new Lace on the Canvas Corp Burlap Tote.
