If you didn’t know already, Canvas Corp offers a number of aprons in a variety of colors, materials, and sizes! These blank aprons are perfect for crafting, cooking, grilling, and in this case, personalizing!
Crew member, Deb Rauch took our aprons and gave them a beautiful pocket and custom embroidery job and we just LOVE the outcome!
Myself, Kat and Mona were chatting one day and we said wouldn’t it be cool to have matching crafting aprons. The first thing that came to my mind was that Canvas Corp has aprons! I said that I could get the aprons, but what do you both want on them? The three of us met on a crafting site a few years ago and have become close friends. We call ourselves the “three amigos”. Mona suggested that they all be the same, as we are the three amigos. We knew it needed a pocket, so Mona went on a search for fabric that had paintbrushes on it. And, of course, they needed to be monogrammed. – Deb
MATERIALS:
Canvas Corp Black Aprons
Embroidery Machine
Sewing Machine
Scissors
Pins
Tape Measure
STEP 1
The first thing I always do when working with fabric is wash and dry it, just in case there will be any shrinkage.
STEP 2
I measured again the apron how large I wanted the pocket to be. That measurement is 12″ wide by 7″ high. I then cut the fabric on a fold so that it would have a lining. I put right sides together, and sewed together the two short sides and one long side.
STEP 3
I turned the pockets right side out, making sure the two bottom corners were square. I then folded in the top, unsewn section, 1″ and ironed it. The next step was to close the top section by sewing a 1/8″ seam along the top.
STEP 4
Now it’s time to add the pocket to the apron. I wanted to make sure that it was center, so I placed it 3.75″ from each side and 4″ from the bottom. I then sewed the pocket onto the apron.
STEP 5
Since I didn’t want just one huge pocket, I decided to make it into 3 sections. I measured 3″ from the left side and marked it, then 4″ from the 3″ mark. I then sewed straight up the section markings.
STEP 6
Next up is personalization. Each of us wanted a different color for our names. So I got out the embroidery machine, programmed the names in, and proceeded to embroider the names 2″ down from top and centered. And that’s how I created there super cute crafting aprons!
So, if you are looking for just the perfect apron for yourself or maybe to give as a gift, check out the ones we have in store! We have adult and child sizes, as well as different materials like canvas and denim. Go ahead and add a name and pocket like Deb did, or do you own thing! These aprons look great any way you decorate them- ruffles, brooches, paint, stencils, appliques- you name it!
