Hosting everyone at your house this year or traveling to celebrate Thanksgiving? We wanted to share some fun and simple ideas that will give your holiday table a little creative touch.
1. Create a Thanksgiving Tag Tree Centerpiece
To help keep the focus on the Thanksgiving season, create fun “table talkers” or ornaments to hang from your tree. You can use a branch, natural tree or wrap wire to create your own DIY tree. On each branch hang a fun question, challenge or thought for each guest. The idea is to create fun topics of discussion at the Thanksgiving table.
You can color code Children’s tags and Adult so that there is something for everyone. Print them off and add them to each tag or handwrite them. Here are just a few ideas that we came up with to get your ideas going.
2. Wrap Up The Beverages
Bottle Covers for your Thanksgiving Table – A great way to add texture and creativity to your Thanksgiving table is wrapping up a series of wine bottles, if you are serving a variety you can mark them by name, red or white or sweet or dry, with each one gets their own wrap, bag or tote to show off what is inside.
Another fun idea is to recycle old wine bottles into water bottles and mark them as so. Simply remove the bottle labels, we love Goo Gone, it works great every time. Wash the bottles with hot water, fill with fresh water, seal with the bottle topper of your choice and put in the refrigerator to chill.
Add DIY charms to your bottles using hardware and excess corks. These can also be used to note what’s inside the bottle.
Serving individual soda’s wrap each with a piece of burlap or jute and add a fun tag that says “enjoy” or “drink me.”
3. Place Settings
Create individual place settings with our canvas or burlap placemats or paper placemats in kraft, white, ivory and Chalkstock. You can stencil, stamp, ink, write onto the surface of your choice. With the paper placemats you can even add markers and crayons to the table to keep everyone occupied.
4. Napkin Rings & Silverware Holders
If you just have time to create individual napkin rings here are some simple ideas to inspire. We painted acorns using high impact paint in turquoise. To create the napkin rings, use cardstock paper to create the ring and then wrap with jute.
5. Place Cards
If you have a place for each guest, you might want to consider creating individual place cards to add that touch of creativity to the table. They sit easy in pinecones, as paper tents or try 7gypsies metal standing clips.
If you set out the food buffet style, paint and wrap recycled cans to drop in your silverware and set them out on the buffet.
These are just a handful of creative ideas that can be used to spruce up your Thanksgiving table! What are your plans for Thanksgiving and will you be doing any Thanksgiving crafts? If so, show us your links in the comments!
