We just love seeing creative ideas on how to repurpose old junk! There are many antique stores, vintage markets, and garage sales that we can find old items that need a makeover or a new home. A little paint or embellishing can go a long way to turn that trash into treasure! Crew Member Lena is sharing this fun Boho style lamp with us that she took from drab to fab!
Lena decided to go with a Boho style for this lamp. If you aren’t familiar with Boho, it is an abbreviated term for “Bohemian Homeless”, which is somewhat self descriptive of the style. Original Bohemians were known as travelers in central Europe, and could also be referred to as Gypsies. The style can be thought of as clothing or decor items that were found, repurposed, or handed down, resulting in a very eclectic look. Bohemian style also had a large impact on what became known as Hippy style, and although the interest in the style seems to peak and fade throughout the decades, it never really loses interest.
Lena started with this old, boring lamp. A piece that still functions but doesn’t really add to the beauty of the home. You may have a lamp like this in your possession, and if not, finding one at a thrift store or garage sale would be an easy task to do!
Strips of fabric were used to tie on larger cloth pieces over each of the lamps on this chandelier. Since the bulbs inside the lamp are LED lights, they do not generate much heat at all, making this a safe project to do. If you would like to try this in your own home, we would definitely recommend using LED lights in your lamp, as well, for safety purposes!
The soft glow from the draped lights looks romantic and chic displayed in Lena’s home! She also added a dreamcatcher to this lamp that she had already made, which really adds to the unique charm.
Tassels are another great way to add some Boho charm to your style. Here, Lena draped one from the lamp as you can see it hanging here along with her dreamcatcher. It adds more visual interest!
