Simple Autumn Place Cards

With the holidays right around the corner, our attention is slowly turning towards dinner parties, family gatherings, and home decor. If you are looking for some simple yet attractive ways to spruce up your table, we are here today with a few ideas for you! Marie Nicole used a few of our supplies and put them together to show how easy it can be to wow your guests! 

MATERIALS:

• Canvas Corp’s Ivory Handmade Paper

• Canvas Corp’s Chalkstock
• Canvas Corp’s French Script Tissuestock
• Steel Dies and Sizzix (or whatever you already have on hand. Punches work great, too)
• Scissors
• White Gel Pen
• Black Brush Pen
• Jute Cord
• ATG

THE PROCESS:

Every fall I look forward to family get-togethers and dinners. Most of the time our dinners are very simple or buffet style, but it’s also nice to dress up the table once in a while and really enjoy all the Autumn decorations. This year I seem to be hooked on a neutral fall palette, so that was my inspiration for these cute little place setting ideas. I still haven’t yet decided which one I want to go with for our Thanksgiving table.

I gathered up some of my supplies and got to work. I was very inspired by the handmade paper. I love the off-white paper and the fact that you can see so much texture in it! I couldn’t help but think of being in the woods during the fall. I tried to get a close up picture of the texture for you.

Gorgeous, isn’t it! I took my pillowbox die set and cut the pieces out of this handmade paper. Then I assembled the box and wrapped some of Canvas Corp’s Jute Cord around it. I used my leaf dies to cut leaves out of the chalkstock and the tissuestock. I wrote on the chalkstock leaf with my white gel pen and adhered it to the cord along with a few tissuestock leaves.

How cute would it be to fill this box with some candies or party favors for each of your guests? Put some wallet sized photos of the kids in there for grandma or grandpa, some cute stickers or craft supplies for the kids, or even a gift card to your guest’s favorite coffee place or shop! Lots of possibilities!

Next, I used a cute little decorative pumpkin and added some leaves to the stem by tying them on with some more of the Jute Cord. This time I layered two of the same kind of leaves together and then wrote on the top leaf with my gel pen.

The pumpkin was orange to begin with, but I painted it using just a little bit of Tattered Angels’ DIY and Decor paint in the color Crystal. I just love the bright white of this Crystal paint!

Last but not least, I used a strip of the handmade paper to wrap around my silverware. All you need to do is cut a strip of paper long enough to be able to tuck behind, add a few of those die cut leaves, and then use your pens to write a message or your guests name. I used my Pentel Brush Pen to write “welcome”, and then my white gel pen again to write “grandma” on the leaf. If you aren’t confident in your handwriting, you could always use a stamp, too!

So, that’s it! Some very simple ways to dress up your table. You don’t need a ton of fancy, expensive, brand name decor items to “wow” your guests. If you have some treasured dishes that have been in your family for generations, definitely go ahead and use them, but with these neutral Canvas Corp items you can add just the right finishing details to any colors or patterns.
