Sisters Printer’s Tray w/Video

Today is Daughter’s Day according to some sources, we are not sure how national it is, we kinda think everyday is daughter and son’s day because they are so special to us.  Erin shares with us today the most amazing, creative tribute to her daughters.  What beautiful memories she has captured.  They will be cherished forever.  Creativity has such amazing healing power even in the hardest of times and even the not so hard times.

I have 2 little girls, but they have never met.  Kristen became an angel in 2009 at 4 months old, and her sister Catherine just turned 3 last month.  They are so similar from their smiles, eyes, temperament, really Catherine reminds me of Kristen everyday.  Catherine will never know her sister in the flesh, but she has to only look with in herself to really know her, and I know Kristen is watching over her.

When I saw this Printer’s Tray I knew I needed to do a project with both my girls.  I never can have pictures of them together, so instead this seemed like a fun way to have them together.  I split up the sections so they each had 6, and for Catherine I kept all her pictures under a year of age to help match the limited pictures I had of Kristen.  Can you tell who is who?  I kept to a pink theme, so if the picture did not have pink in it, I just printed it in black and white.  Some pictures I could just crop from 4×6 or 2×3 wallet sizes I already had on hand, but some I had to crop and resize on my computer and print special from home.

Here is a video showing how I put this cute little printers tray together.

I created this cute little tray with products from Canvas Corp (Canvas Home Basics), Tattered Angels, 7 Gypsies, Craftwell, and Xyron.  Below are the specific products used.

7gypsies has a range of surfaces, metals and embellishments that are the prefect finishing touch to your home decor and DIY craft projects.  From trays, crates and shadowboxes to tiny keys and sweet charms.  All with a fun vintage feel.

Here are some up close pictures of Erin’s tray that will give you insight into how simple each piece of the tray is, but together the end result is spectacular.

Choose where to put your photos first and then slip fun little doodads into some of the other spots.  If you choose a single color like Erin did pink it is fun to mix and match the various colors of pink to really give your project lots of dimension and texture.

Don’t feel like you have to decorate only the inside of each of the letterblock spots, create outside of the boxes like the sweet little LOVE banner Erin added with the Hot Pink Mini Clothespins.

Die cut or punch words from Canvas Corp Printed Cardstock to help tell your story.  The heavy weight of the paper makes it easy to make your words and add them where you need them, like Erin shows us here.  Personalizing the tray with the names of the girls is so special and can be done with stickers, stencils, stamps or you can hard-write them.

The 7gypsies letterblock tray is a great place to capture a time in our lives that is so special, blending a group of photos together that may look great in individual frames, they help tell a wonderful story when they come together in the tray.

I added some special things like words that mean something to me about my daughters like the the angel button, “remember” word, the hearts, my poem, keys (to my heart), and more.  Not all embellishment are there just to look cute, they can hold a special meaning to the person who created them.  For that is what scrapbooking/memory keeping is all about remembering your loved ones!!
