Tattered Angels and Kids Crafts!!

I absolutely adore crafting and creating my two little girls.  They know how to use every product and tool in my “studio”. This month on the Tattered Angels Blog we are featuring projects that are “so easy, even kids can do it”. So, I decided to get my girls involved in this one.

One of their favorite things to do, is mist, paint, and stencil with Tattered Angels paint products.  So, when I asked them what type of project they would like to do, Arianna Faith immediately said “Mom – I need a new apron!”.  My girls and I painted canvas aprons about 3 years ago.  They were a huge hit, but they have out grown them.  So a new kid size apron was a perfect idea.

Canvas Corp has brilliantly made canvas aprons in kid size and adult size.  (They even make a canvas Chef Hat!).  Arianna grabbed my new stencil by Balzar Designs, and her favorite Tattered Angels colors, along with some Donna Downey Prima Foam Stamps, ribbon and bling, and we set to work.

We talked a little about where she would like to lay the stencil and how to blend the Glimmer Mist.  We had a lot of fun creating this together. We taped the stencil down to the canvas apron and misted over it.  We also misted Pink Paislee wooden letters, and allowed everything to dry.

Here is the start of our kids apron.  We misted over the entire apron with Bronze Glimmer Mist and Pumpkin Spice, to fill in some of the areas.

Large Foam Stamps, painted with white acrylic paint, were used to layer on some flowers.  We allowed those to dry and added some Want2Scrap  bling, using Helmar Fabric Adhesive.  We also used a bit to Stickles to add some shimmer to the flower petals, and to add her middle name – Faith.

To add a little bit more of a “girly” feel, we cut off the apron ties and added a wide ribbon with fabric adhesive.

Adhering the wooden letters with fabric glue finished the last detail on the apron.

The best thing about creating with kids, is that you begin to remember that there are no rules.  Kids create freely, no holds barred, no preconceived notions about what it is “supposed” to look like.  They smile, laugh and enjoy the process.  Kids are so wise aren’t they?  It’s a memory I will never forget, and I hope she doesn’t either.

Have fun creating with your kiddos.

So fun. I think Hannah would love this too. She loves to bling up any kind of plain article of clothing or anything. We love the mists!!!

Just this weekend, we bought her some cute canvas shoes and she said, “Mom, I WILL decorate these.”

Happy Day and thanks for a great post.
