The Zoo Crew Mini Album

This week’s look at our favorite 7gypsies collections takes us across the world the the beautiful and mysterious lands of Africa with the Serengeti Collection.  The collection takes you on a journey through Africa touching on the cultures, artwork, old photos, the animals and the beauty of the colors.  The perfect assortment of goodies to capture your last African Safari, trip down the Nile or walk about the zoo where the animals of Africa roam.  Each of the papers is named in Swahili, the most spoken language on the continent.  7gypsies introduced a new few new products with this collection including Serengeti B & W Tags and Serengeti B & W Photos, both of which will be explored this week as we take you on our Serengeti Journey.  Here is view of the entire Serengeti Collection.  Sheila Rumney kicks off the week with this vintage zoo themed mini album where the photos and the art come together to create beautiful pages that make you feel like you are there.

The Zoo Crew Mini Album

 The trip to the zoo is always a fun summer time adventure.  Creating this mini album using the 7 Gypsies Serengeti Paper Line, made this such a wildly fun album to create.

 I used the sewn  4″ x 6″ Gyspy Book – Drab as my mini album base, Gypsy Books are filled with 3 fabric pages (you can use front and back) that are sewn together and bound with a faux leather binding.  The finished pages measure 4″x6″ and you can use the book horizontally or vertically.  I then created an extra page on the front of the album using the Roma Book Cover and burlap as the binding.

 I tucked in photos and embellished it with more bulap and the Serengeti Mini Ephemera and embellished them with assorted Canvas Corp Cords, pieces of burlap and Jacobean Mini Clothespins.

Inking the Red Burlap with brown ink, gave it a muted tone to coordinate with the papers and embellishments.  Inking, Misting or painting burlap and canvas gives it a whole new looks and allows you to match them to any color palette. 

 To add another page inside the album cut down the American Vintage Postcard.

I used the Chocolate Burlap as the binding and used the hot glue gun to glue onto the fabric and postcard.

 I continued to add bits of vintage lace, buttons, photos and emphemera to complete.

I used the Serengeti Charms,  Mini Round Hanger and Mini Clothespins throughout the mini album.

I filled the Amber Apothecary Bottle with some bird seed and then added the Apothecary Label .

 Then I tied it to the burlap using Light Natural Sisal Rope.

This was a quick and easy album to complete, and is filled to the brim with wildly fun zoo memories.
