Watercolor Your World With Glimmer Mist

Watercolors are very ‘in’ this year, but not everyone is good with brushes and paints. So the question is – What’s the easy way to achieve the effect without the hassle? Tattered Angels Mists are your answer.  If you have not used them before, they are a wonderful translucent spray mist that is filled with pigment and mica in a water-based formula.  They are light and delicate which makes them easy to combine and flow into each other. With an additional small spray of water on top, you will make them flow even more smoothly. Today, Crew Member, Karla Yungwirth is sharing with you how to make a personalized mixed media canvas with a watercolor background.

‘This personalized canvas includes lots of fun mixed media techniques and is a lovely handmade gift made especially for a crafty swap! I’ve given new life to old chipboard pieces in my stash by mixing them with Tattered Angels sprays and pretty Canvas Corp and 7gypsies products.’ – says Karla.

Have you worked with Canvas Corp’s blank canvases?  They are very different from those covered with gesso.  They are made of natural 100% cotton canvas.  The raw natural of the fabric makes it simply perfect for misting with Glimmer Mist and the colors are so vibrant.

This blank canvas was misted with  Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists – Sky, Iris and Tutti Frutti.

Cut lace as desired to fit canvas and attach with Mod Podge.

Trace heart shape onto canvas fabric, cut out, mist with Tutti Frutti Glimmer Mist and paint edges with Iris Baseboard Mist and a paint brush.  The mists are perfect misted or painted.

Coat chipboard flower with White High Impact Paint, then layer on Sky and Iris Baseboard mists and Times Square Glimmer Glam – drying in between coats with heat gun.

Cut buttons and button card from 7gypsies Buttons paper from the Seamstress collection and sponge edge with brown ink.

Attach mini clothespins to fabric canvas heart and chipboard dress. Use Tacky Glue to adhere button packet, chipboard initial, string, painted chipboard flower and pinned heart and dress to canvas.

Stamp sentiment onto cream cardstock, cut out and glue to canvas. Add a loop of gold thread to heart and attach paper buttons to canvas. Apply Glossy Accents to all buttons to add dimension; you can also add sequins to project.

All the small details make the project an outstanding piece of art. They are also they way you can make it special for the person receiving it.
