Wings on Wednesday: Uplifting Card with matching Envelope

Fun and easy uplifting card Crew Member Heidi Jakobs

Hi everyone, Heidi here; today I’m on the CCB blog showing you my Wings on Wednesday project. It’s a fun matching card and envelope project. I created this card for a young girl in my family and I feel the sentiment fits her just right!

I used the following materials:
Canvas Corp 12 x 12 paper: Hot Pink on White
Canvas Corp 12 x 12 paper: Chocolate & Ivory Live Love Laugh
Canvas Corp Square Greeting Card
Canvas Corp “Jute Cord“
Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist in the color “Chalk“
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in the color “Black Cherry“
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in the color “Amethyst“
Canvas Corp “Pink“ Burlap
Canvas Corp “Natural“ Burlap
Scrapiniec chipboard “Use Your Wings”
Clear Gesso
Gel Medium or Liquid Glue
Archival Ink in the color “Plum“
Memento ink in the color “Espresso Truffle“
Finnabair by Prima Marketing stamp #960841
black Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen (S)
white Gelly Roll Pen
pink enamel dots

I started from the Envelope

Step 1:

I cut a strip of paper from the Canvas Corp “Chocolate & Ivory Live Love Laugh“ paper and applied one coat of The Crafter’s Workshop “Clear Gesso“, when that was dry I sprayed the strip of paper with Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist in the color “Chalk“ to tone down the color and design of the paper.

Then I inked up the sentiment from the Scrapniec chipboard that I will use later on on my card using Versafine ink in the color “Onyx Black“ and then used the chipboard as a stamp on the strip of paper. It will not give you a crisp stamped image but enough to create the outlines and then color in the lines. For this I used a black Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen. To enhance the design I went around the lines using a white Gelly Roll Pen. Next I edged the paper strip with Archival Ink in the color “Plum“ using a foam applicator tool.

Step 2:

Then I’m ready to work a little on the envelope itself, for this project I choose a Canvas Corp white “Square Card with Envelop“ set: I edged the envelope with Memento ink in the color “Espresso Truffle“ and stamped a little around the edges of the envelope using a Finnabair by Prima Marketing stamp (#960841). And to finish the envelope I adhere the strip of paper to the envelope using liquid glue/gel medium (whatever you have or prefer).

Now I’m going to work on the card

Step 1:

I treated the white card base in the same way as I did with the envelope: I edged around the card base and stamped on the edges using the same ink and stamp. I cut a square panel from the same “Chocolate & Ivory Live Love Laugh“ paper, edged that with the same brown Memento ink. Then I cut a slightly larger panel from the Canvas Corp “Hot Pink on White“ paper and edged that with the same plum colored ink as I used before on the envelope strip.

Now I’m going to work on the chipboard: I painted the sentiment with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in the color “Amethyst“ using a brush and set that aside to dry and I edged the wings part of the chipboard using the same brown Memento ink as I used before on the papers (using a foam applicator tool).

Then I cut a piece of “Pink“ Canvas Corp Burlap to a size that I liked using scissors and I did the same thing with a piece of “Natural“ Canvas Corp Burlap making that panel slightly smaller. To make the pink colored burlap slightly darker to match my project better I sprayed around the edges using Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in the color “Black Cherry“ and let that dry.

Step 2:

Now I can put my card together: I adhered the two square paper panels together using liquid glue, then I wrapped some Canvas Corp “Jute Cord“ around these panels and adhered on the back using regular tape. These combined panels I adhered to my card base using one millimetre thick foam tape.

On top I first adhered the pink burlap using one millimetre thick foam tape and liquid glue/gel medium and then adhered the natural colored burlap piece on top using liquid glue/gel medium. I adhered the chipboard sentiment to the chipboard wings using liquid glue/gel medium and adhered these combined chipboards to my card also using liquid glue/gel medium and then sat this all aside to dry.

To finish my card I embellished with some matching pink colored enamel dots from my stash.

And that concludes this fun Wings on Wednesday project! I love this pink and brown combination a lot and the Canvas Corp papers match the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists perfectly!

Thank you for looking!

Happy crafting!!!
