I wanted to create an easy wing-shaped mini album with the Shabby Chic Feel. I had a sheet of denim and thought it would be a good base. I layered it with canvas and lace. The pages are covered with the Compose Your Life papers. I love the variety and the embossed pages that are perfect for adding texture.
Materials used to make the wing-shaped album:
Canvas Corp Denim Sheet
Canvas Corp Canvas from Scrap Bag
7gypsies Scrap Pack – lace
Compose Your Life 8×8 Paper collection pack
Scrap card board
6×6 chipboard circle album
Doilies and Canvas Roses I made from scrap canvas
Glue gun, glue sticks, quick dry glue, scissors, binding circle
Using a circle as guide, hand draw wing shape on cardboard. You will need 2. Cut out with scissors.
Use the wing as a template and draw wing shape on back of denim material. Then cut out 2 pieces.
Use a CD as template and cut canvas circles.
You will also cut 4 small feathers and 2 large feathers from scrap canvas to use as embellishments.
Decorate the back and front of denim wings so they look alike – they will be your covers.
Take chipboard pages and cut out circles from Compose Your Life paper collection.
You will need a back and a front for each page you put into the book. I made 4 pages.
I used liquid quick dry glue to add paper to the chipboard.
NOTE: Thinner paper did wrinkle from the wet glue so it’s better to use good quality, thicker paper or card.
Cut the inside of wings from the embossed paper in the paper collection. You will need 2.
Take hole punch and line up where you want album attached.
I used the hole from the circle chipboard as my guide.
Connect the book together with ring, starting from back to front.
Just when I thought I was done, I decided to hot glue eyelet lace from my stash.
I attached the lace behind denim fabric.
Shabby on the outside and full of memories on the outside, the wing-shaped mini album will make a perfect gift.
Have a great day!
