Altered Cheese Board – fun with Architextures

Hello, everyone!!! I am Monica Taylor and today, I have an altered Cheese Board that I’d love to share with you.
One of the things I love about living in Prescott, AZ is the abundance of thrift shops. You just never know what you will find! On one of my trips, I found this cutting board that was missing the cutting insert. This gave me an idea to create an altered art piece.

Products Monica used to alter her cheese board:
Architextures™ 8×8 Paper Pad Collection #1
Architextures™ Junque Pack – Warehouse
Architextures™ Findings – Green Tinted Bottles
Canvas Corp 12×12 E-Flute Chocolate
Color Wash Paint Faux Finish – Old Bronze
Various Idea-ology items
Mod PodgeScissorsPaper trimmerPaint brush

To begin, I painted the entire board with Old Bronze Color Wash paint.

Then I covered the background with some cardstock using ModPodge.

I wanted to have several layers, so I build them up using various metal objects, Idea-ology items, Trinkets from Architextures and items from the Junque Packs.
I didn’t want the cheese slicer to move so I found a mini ruler that I glued over the slit to keep the slicer in place. I then added a metal object. I also added the Vintage sign shop to the top of the cheese slicer.

There are so many different ways you could decorate and alter items such as these.

All it takes is a little creativity!!!

Have a great crafty Sunday!!!

Monica Taylor

That is a really fun project! You did a nice job on it. I had never seen a cheese board like that so first of all I was wondering what it was. Anyway such interesting elements and I like the paint you put on the board itself.

This is so interesting, I’m going to try to do something like this with some Christmas items. I especially like the Kutztown, Pa ruler. My daughter graduated from Kutztown University. Thanks for the inspiration to try something new.
