Sometimes the simple notebook is all what we need. Sometimes we want to have a nice handmad and altered notebook that fits our needs. This altered notebook was made with close to zero cost Michaels notebook to fit our travel summer adventures and as once a year we go for a cruise this is just a perfect project for this matter. The notebook was not covered from the inside and Irit just made the outer cover that later was glued over the original one. So easy to do and so effective! Irit made the main embellishment point as a shaker that is still very trendy and used the inside acetate piece of some embellishments packaging as the clear window as she always try to recycle her stash. This is a really inspiering piece created for our “To the Sea” Challenge.

step 1
Cut Kraft cardstock to fit the notebook cover and round the corners. Cut cardstock to fit the cover and the shaker inside. Glue two layers of patterned cardstock over the notebook front as shown. Use rope stencil over the cover with crackle paste. Let it dry.
step 2
Die cut the shaker frame using two rectangle dies.Die cut two layers of Kraft cardstock and the upper patterned layer. Glue them one over another. Arrange the shaker spot with patterened cardstock ship inside, some sequins, recycled packaging acetate and your die cut frame. Cut a few cardstock images and later die cut them to circles.
step 3
Paint the die cut pieces. Don’t try to make it perfect. Mist the cover front with Curious and Aquamarine glimmer mists. Arrange the shaker and all other pieces to make the embellishments cluster over the cover. Glue the cover over the notebook.
Now we can´t wait to see what YOU create & submit for our June Challenge! You find the details here!

Marie, the idea of making a cover over a cover is brilliant! I love the traditional feel of your cover — boats, ropes, nets, blues and whites.
