The magic of craft often gives life to items that would otherwise remain plain and boring. With just a lick of paint and a couple of embellishments, you can turn an uninteresting wooden shape into a stunning piece of rustic home decor!
Our Crew member, Jennifer Hottinger-Sloan used the ever so versatile Architextures elements to decorate a small wooden house.
And the result… see for yourself!
‘I wanted to make a little house to house the “queen cow” piece. This is how it all started.’ – says Jennifer.
Materials used:
Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist – Leather
Architextures – Bovine Beauties
Architextures – Found Glass Bottles
Architextures Junque Pack- Attic and Parlour
Canvas Corp Neutral Jute
Prima Flowers
Wooden House and wooden spool
Metal frame
leather flower
beads
Cement star
Metal leaves
‘I started with a wooden house and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Mist in Leather, I then cut out a piece of Architextures crackled paint sheet and stuck it down to the wood frame. On the sides I cut out a small pink picket fence from one of the Miexed packs. A metal frame was added to the front with a cow head and other embellishments. On the top I added a spook that was wound with jute and draped around the house. I added flowers onto the vine and on the front and finished off with beads and a few metal leaves.’ – explains the process Jennifer.
What a lovely, rustic piece of home decor!
Have a crafty day!
