Do you ever see something, like a design on a piece of fabric or color of someone’s shirt… and it inspires you to make something new based on that little bit that sparked your imagination?
Our American Vintage Collection: Wish You Were Here was the spark of inspiration for Betsy Skagen’s postcard set. Each postcard in the set focuses on a different part of the United States.
This postcard, which comes from the Southern U.S., features a vintage beach theme.
To make the postcard, begin with the American Vintage Collection: Wish You Were Here paper and cut out the South postcard.
Cover the chipboard butterflies with black gesso and dry with heat gun. Alternate and build up layers of Quinacridone gold acrylic paint and a gold paint pen until you reach desired effect.
Adhere ephemera from the Architextures 8×8 Paper Pack and a piece of colored burlap to the back of the postcard. Trim all pieces to the edge. Then use a stencil to apply teal paint to the postcard.
Glue the butterflies to the postcard.
Then print and cut out the Going to the Beach Digital Sheet. Add three dimensional foam adhesive to the back and adhere to the postcard.
Add embellishments and your postcard is complete! You can see another postcard from this collection on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog.
