Another day another holiday DIY…is anyone else frantically creating holiday decor? We can’t be the only one’s! However, the holidays are a great time to create. What other time of year can you put on the fire, blast the Christmas music, sip on some hot chocolate and CRAFT..it’s a glorious time.
This DIY Antler Banner was originally created as a backdrop for an entry table, so that when guests walk through the door they are instantly greeted by farmhouse-inspired decor. However, it quickly lent itself to many other uses!
Our canvas banner was the perfect surface for our entryway banner. Using Tattered Angels high impact paint in black, we stenciled the antlers to the canvas (Tip: use an adhesive spray to adhere the stencil to the canvas. It makes for crisper lines so that paint doesn’t bleed). FYI, these stencils are fabulous. They’re designed by the ultra creative, Jennifer Rizzo of Royal Design Studio. Her blog is outstanding, you may want to take a peek!
We ripped (yes, ripped!) a piece from our Farmhouse Christmas panel and then sewed it to the sides of the canvas with a ruffle.
The canvas banner comes with an opening at the top and bottom that is designed to hold a pole for hanging. However, we used sticks instead to match our rustic Farmhouse theme.
Remember how I said that we originally designed this for an entry way? Well, we may have used it on the desert table to hold the pie as well!
