Architextures Mixed Media Artboard ‘Home’

Good afternoon, Evelyn Walter here with my mixed media artboard ‘home’ project.

Some time ago, I got the wonderful Architextures Mixed Media Paper Artboard. Now I had a project in mind for which it was perfect to use! Recently, I had a play with one of the Naturally Aged Paint System Kits – White Rusty Metal (you can find a video tutorial for that on the Tattered Angels YouTube Channel!) and I wanted to make a project with the faux rusty enameled house number plate.

I kept it pretty clean to make the focal point, the plate, to stand out perfectly.
If you want to find out, how I put this together, please watch the video!

Then I used the Naturally Aged Kit White Rusty Metal by following the instructions attached to the kit. I added the black painted Grungeboard numbers and glued some screw brads to the corners to make the plate look more realistic.
To imitate the enameled surface of the plate, I gave the area of the plate not covered in rust a generous coat of glossy glaze.

mixed media artboard home faux wall tattered angels architextures naturally aged rusty metal I wanted to create a house wall for the house number plate. For this, I added a pretty thick layer of fibre paste and created an uneven surface with my palette knife. The Mixed Media Artboard is perfect for wet mediums; it barely deforms and dries evenly. I pressed the number plate into the wet paste to glue it down. For a old and a bit dirty look of the wall, I used the Glimmer Mist in Stone from the Naturally Aged Kit White Rusty Metal. At last, I added a printed out saying and toned down the edges with Distress Ink to frame my Artboard.

Here’s my complete tutorial:

I hope you enjoyed the process and that it’s encouraged you to try the Faux Finish Naturally Aged Kits.

Thank you for stopping by!
