Atelier: my creative space

Atelier is the French term for an artist workshop.  This month the design team are welcoming you into our own creative spaces so bienvenue & welcome.

We creative folks know no boundaries, yes I might have a room but half the time I end up working outdoors to enjoy the light and be inspired by the colours of nature.  Altered books and art journals are my all time favourites.

Tattered Angels has so many pretty colours I love to see them all lined up in the sunlight.  All of my TA goodies are stored in this corner of the room, mists, glazes with a little glam, stamps and stencils all have their place along with special treasures.

Experimenting with the Tattered Angels paints is great fun, I have been trying them out with my old calligraphy pens.  These pens might not be pretty but they are much loved because my dad purchased them for me on one of our expeditions to an art store. In the bottom of the tin is a quote that I like “my father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me” and reminds me that my biggest fan is still my mother.

Storing stamps and stencils became a challenge but found mounting them on a board to keep them on show means I use them more often.  I kind of got carried away with a few techniques on these, faux bricks and graffiti.

Mum is forever finding thrifted treasures to make over including these shelf sets that became my staging area.  One shelf is for the new season range, giving them a chance to shine and me to appreciate the colours.

The other shelf is starting to collect bits and pieces of the next colorful project.

Every creative person needs a mood board. You can see my mom had a hand in collecting bits for this one too, it started as a couple of framed bulletin boards but grew from there.

Really like this new technique making faux bead board with tape and glaze.

A peek into what is on the work table.

Thank you for visiting the Tattered Angels blog space where we all like to share the fun of playing with colours, feel free to post questions, we like to hear from you.

Thanks for the comments and questions.

Alicia, mum does all her thrifting at Vinnies & the Sally Ann.

Sher, the stencils are posted with repositionable tape, but some of the bigger heavier ones are hanging on thumbtacks.
