Hello, I am Lynda Lindley and in my family, the end of the school year means gifts for teachers. I am constantly being teased for “saving” containers left and right to use for all types of things. One of my latest teacher-gift projects is a burlap-covered lemonade holder.
For this project, I am using some “rescued” powdered drink containers. These containers are great to upcycle by decorating. This year, my youngest will be giving her teachers these recycled containers with lemonade and maybe a few instant coffees tossed in for good measure.
I hope you will take a look at the containers you are tossing into your recycling to see what else you might do with them.
Products used:
Canvas Corp Colored Burlap – Yellow and Black
Canvas Corp Mixology: Mixology Butcher Paper on White Paper
Plastic drink container/cup to recycle
Paper trimmer, scissors
Liquid Adhesive, yellow marker
Using the paper trimmer; trim the chosen label from the 12×12 Mixology page.
Color the Lemonade and parts of the wording with the yellow marker. Set this aside.
Trim a strip of black burlap to fit the height of the cup you’re ‘wrapping.
Using liquid adhesive, glue the burlap to the container.
Trim the yellow burlap to layer onto the black one – you will want it to be slightly narrower – and attach with liquid adhesive.
I used another of the same labels to determine the width I needed of the yellow burlap.
Fray the edges of both the black and yellow burlap.
Your ‘new’ lemonade container is finished and ready to use!
You can play with colors and containers – maybe even ‘dress up’ your travel coffee cups!!! There are so many fun options!
Happy crafting!
