The title sounds pretty curious, right?
Our Crew member, Jaine Drake take us on an adventure to the world of a ‘one sheet mini book’… let’s see where it takes us…
I wanted to create a mini book which was just a few pages, enough for a couple of photos and a message from one sheet of paper (you can Google it under ‘one sheet mini book’) and so needed to paint my one sheet before I started out. After experimenting with some colour combinations, I fell in love with the blues and greens of this one along with the addition of some gold for extra shimmer. The result is a gorgeous marbled effect which makes a stunning background to whatever you want to add over the top.
Products used for the project:
Tattered Angels Naturally Aged Paint System – Turquoise (Precious Stone)
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Iridescent Gold
Canvas Corp – Ivory Burlap
7gypsies – ephemera, tickets and a small charm
7gypsies Architextures Rub-On
On a piece of watercolour paper, spray Turquoise and True Blue from the kit then spray patches of gold.
With a second piece of paper, blot and mop the ink to create a mottled or marbled effect.
With a bbq stick, drop Icicle Glimmer Mist (also from the kit) onto the background.
You can see in this close up, how gorgeous and shimmery the ink and icicle splatters are on the paper.
Once dry, I could fold my paper into a mini book. Each page is ready for a simple message or a photo and the addition of this rub on phrase is a simple but elegant touch.
I used a piece of ribbed card for my cover and decorated it with tickets, burlap and paper, finishing off with a metal charm. The extra sheet of paper which I used to blot the paint in the beginning, I used to die cut the star shapes so nothing is wasted in this project.
The background technique can be used on much smaller pieces of paper and die cut into gorgeous shapes. Try different colour combinations adding a splash of gold or silver into it.
