Creative DIY Projects for 4th of July

Red, white and blue is in the air with 4th of July right around the corner so it is time to get those patriotic craft supplies out to decorate for that upcoming party or to give your mantel or table top a festive flair.

This special banner is perfect for a patriotic or election theme or just a great color combination.  Hang it on a knob, include it as part of your mantel decor, or create a series of them to use as chair backers, place settings, or just some fun decorative touches.

Materials Used
Charms: Paris & Travel

American Vintage: 12×12 American Stamps Paper

Step 1:  Cut the Red Burlap and Stripe Paper into a Pennant Shape.  The paper should be slightly smaller than the burlap. Unravel the burlap slightly to give it a vintage look and save the red pieces.

Step 2:  Wrap the red pieces of burlap into a circle and secure with mini red clothespins.  You can also adorn the center of the flower with a patriotic pin or piece of jewelry.

Step 3:  Collect ephemera, patriotic cards, flags, or other red, white and blue goodies to add.  You can ink or stamp with red to add a vintage touch.

Step 4:  Add strips of paper, ribbon or fabric to the design.

Step 5:  Charms and metal embellishments will top off your project.

Step 6:  Add a hanger with jute or ribbon, connecting it with 7gypsies vintage pins. I thought this was a perfect banner for celebrating the 4th of July!Kim also created this painted mini pallet with stripes of red and white and accented with denim and white stars.

Kim uses burlap in this project too which looks great and yet so different.  Adding a bit of brown is a nice accent to the red, white and blue color palette.
