Where do you reside?
I live in Central Illinois in the USA in a relatively rural area with several suburb-y towns in between the corn stalks.
Describe your design style…
My style is what I call creative…meaning it’s all over the place. One project is messy, one project is neat. It really depends on my mood. I love to try out new techniques so that is reflected in the things I create. I notice I tend to try to incorporate “nature” things like butterflies, birds, bugs and flowers! That could be my Biology major shining through! I love to add stamps, ink and mists to my projects! I often paint with my mists!
Who or what do you give credit to inspiring your creativity?
I started off in this hobby when scrapbooking was very popular! I followed lots of people in the early days. Lately, I scan Instagram and Pinterest when I need a creative boost. When new products come out, I scan YouTube for how-to videos. I also love seeing how fellow Design Team members creative with specific projects!
What inspires you today?
Today I am most inspired by the creative process. I love to just walk through a craft store or Goodwill to get inspiration. I may look at a shelf and all of a sudden an idea pops into my head.
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? and why? Just one please!!!
Just one??? Really??? I have to pick just one? Well… I would have to say Glimmer Mists! I have been addicted since they first came out! I love all the colors and the sparkle you get using them! I mist them, re-color flowers with them, paint with them! So Fun!
We asked Chris to choose her favorite project she has created using CCB Products.
Why is it your favorite project?
I just love Glimmer Mists and was excited to find Mixed Media Origins papers. This was my first attempt to “watercolor” a whole project with Glimmer Mists! I still have this hanging in my work office today!
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?
I do a lot of blog tutorials but don’t teach in real life. My work and family keep me too busy right now to venture into teaching.
I am the happiest doing…
I am happiest when I get to ‘hide’ in my craft room and just create. The inkier and messier, the better!
My favorite place to be creative…
My little cubby hole of a craft room is my favorite place to create. I can be a messy or as neat as I want and just close the door when I am done.
Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…
Not sure it’s cool or not… but those slanted ceilings make storage very hard! So I have lots of storage bins and boxes of supplies everywhere.
Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know…
I have a degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry and part of my “day job” is to test mosquitoes for West Nile Virus. Also, I love Monopoly! and in our family we play for blood… winner takes it all! My kids know the rules and play the same way! It is so great when they win!
Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others…
Remember there is no right or wrong way to create! And there are no mistakes – just opportunities for embellishments!
Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!
