Today, we get to know Julia Cotrim.
Where do you reside? City, State, Country
I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but now living in Louisville, KY, USA for 2 years.
Describe your design style…
I would say I am kind of eclectic. I love mixed media and collage and I love to work with happy and bright colors! I also love recycling using papers, paints and anything I can find among my stash. Oh, I almost forgot to say… I am a graphic designer and I love to create my own patterned papers!
Who or what do you give credit to inspiring your creativity?
I get inspired with so many things around me: magazines, Youtube, Pinterest, window shopping, colors from the outside… yes, I guess life inspires me all the time!
I really got into my crafty adventures when my daughter introduced me to scrapbooking in 2004. From there to now my love for craft and art grew more and more. I can’t live without them!
What inspires you today?
I get inspired with everything around me and also with Youtube videos, Pinterest, paints and papers. I also get inspired observing fabric’s patterns.
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? and why? Just one please!!!
That’s a hard question!
Ok, paints. Any kind and all of them. Because I can’t live without them and because all my creations start with paints!
We asked Julia to choose her favorite project she has created using CCB Products.
Why is it your favorite project?
Because in this project I was able to work with beautiful papers, paint and because I altered a clipboard where I could draw my creations.
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?
Since I came to the United States I had not the chance to teach but when I was living in Brazil I was a mixed media and scrapbooking teacher. I also loved to teach my students different techniques with recycling.

Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…
I love to have close to me and around me the products and tools I use the most! This way I don’t have to wonder around looking for them.

I love to play guitar and to sing. By the way I sing all the time!

Do not be afraid to try different things and to make mistakes! You don’t have to be a perfectionist to be an artist! Have fun and have fun! 🙂
