Crew Interview – Linda Simpson

It’s time for another post in our 2017 Canvas Corp Crew Interviews. We are extremely privileged to be able to work with a group of over a 100 of amazing designers from around the world. They have all come together to create, share ideas, support each other, let us know what we can do better and remind us of what we are doing well.  Our Crew members contribute projects to our blog, design with our products on their blogs, create models for our trade shows, packaging and other fun little projects.  We love to hear what they have to say, to be inspired by their work and to learn new things everyday.
Today, we get to know Linda Simpson.

Where do you reside? City, State, Country
I live in Warrington, Cheshire, UK.

Describe your design style…
My style is very eclectic. I love the create cards, tags, ATC’s, mixed media and altered art. I love different styles, such as vintage, shabby chic and my all time favourite is Steampunk.

Who or what do you give credit to inspiring your creativity?
I find inspiration from a number of different social media platforms, especially Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. As to whom I can give credit to… there are a number of crafters such as Kay Sutton-Halliwell who is the owner of IndigoBlu a company based here in the UK, Toni Darroch owner and designer of Stamps by Me, Tim Holtz, Finnibar, along with a number of talented artists from all over the world and too numerous to mention.

What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? and why? Just one please!!!
I love the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists, they are so very versatile and can be incorporated into any area of crafting.

We asked Linda to choose her favorite project she has created using CCB Products.

Why is it your favorite project?
This was my very first project for Canvas Corp Brand. I love it because it incorporates new products to me which I hadn’t used before and challenged me to work within 4 x 4 canvas. I do love steampunk too so was able to use this theme.

Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places?
At present, I don’t teach. In the past I have taught card making to new crafters.

I am the happiest doing…
Mixed media projects, especially canvas’. I also like to learn about new techniques; while I have been away I managed to have a go at acrylic pour. This I will be definitely having a go of more now that I am home.

My favorite place to be creative…
My craft room is where you will find me most days of the week, either learning new techniques, making cards, journaling or generally getting very messy with my paints and mixed media mediums.

Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space…
A couple of years ago, I redesigned my craft room so I would have more shelving and a longer work station. You can see from the photograph that I can now lay my hands on virtually anything from working at my new desk. This is also where I record my videos too.

Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know…
I love to crochet, I even take it on holidays with me 🙂 I am also a giggler 😉

Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others…
I have been crafting for over 20 years now. When I was 50, I took early retirement to follow my dream of working within the crafting industry. I have been very fortunate that I have worked for a couple of UK based companies as their social media manager. Through this I was able to demonstrate at craft shows as well as the trade shows both here in the UK and Germany. At the moment, I have started designing papers and ephemera and set up my own Etsy shop. Hopefully at the end of July I will be setting up my website to sell my papers and ephemera too.

I would advise crafter’s… no matter what area of crafting you belong to, never give up on your dream!

You can see Linda’s projects on her blog, InstagramFacebook page and of course here, our blog.

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!
