Angélique Jarrier shows us her handmade canvas tree skirt with simple fabric, stenciled or stamped holiday icons and a trim of rickrack around the edge. The simple neutral color of the canvas is the perfect addition to her tree.
Keep it simple with a simple design added to the tree skirt that matches your decor. Use a stencil or stamp and if you are comfortable with hand-painting it is a lovely touch. If you do a family ornament tree, ask the kids to each add a painted icon to the tree skirt and keep the handmade family tradition going.
If a bit more natural and rustic is your style, how about a simple burlap tree skirt with a fluffy white trim that might just look a bit like Santa’s beard. This little touch brings to life the tree skirt and makes the snowballs on the tree just pop. Natural elements such as burlap, grapevine and berries creates a wonderful look.
How about a ruffle of canvas on the inside and around the center of the tree skirt? A little more shabby chic and terrific for a neutral space or simplistic tree.
Paint up a very unique tree skirt….Start with a blank burlap tree skirt and divide up into sections like you might a pie and make each one a bit different, but use the same or similar colors. One section features the Canvas Corp Farmhouse Fabric Panel and the others are painted plaid panels with canvas flowers and trim to finish things off. You can add fabric scraps, quilted pieces or paint directly onto the burlap fabric to get the look you are going for.
Nancy stamps Merry Christmas to her tree skirt and adds a bit of burlap ribbon trim to the edge.
