DIY Vintage Chic Wine Bag

Looking for a fun DIY gift for that special Mother in your life? How about a little inspiration from Crew Member, Kimberly! She took one of our canvas wine bags and made it into a vintage chic gift bag. She is also sharing how to take your rub-ons up a notch! We have several new rub-ons in store from 7Gypsies new Architextures and they are so easy to work with, even on canvas! Let’s see how Kimberly created this gorgeous bag! 

Today I’m going to show you how to take your rub-ons to another level! I wanted a vintage vibe, so I grabbed some bees wax but you could also use a candle that is light in color. I have done this on projects before- just start with a light layer of wax and then keep adding until the piece is covered evenly. Be sure it’s not too much so that the age shows beautifully.
I needed a beautiful bag for my friend’s birthday, and I wanted to make it! So I pulled out my stash of Canvas Corp canvas bags. I saw the wine sack and knew it would be perfect for the candle and lotions I wanted to add into the bag. I added the candle in the bottom of sack and then added my lotions and little gift on top. After tying a cute bow it was perfect! These would make lovely mother days gifts, as well!

MATERIALS USED:

CC-Wine bag
CC-Canvas sheet 12×12
CC-Burlap scraps pkg
7G-Rub on
CC-Garland
TA DIY paint crystal
TA Baseboard Cardboard Mist
Fab-tac glue
Wax
Heat Gun
Scissors

STEP 1
Take a piece of canvas and cut the desired size to fit your rub on. Then, put it onto a solid surface and run it on using a Popsicle stick .

STEP 2
Take some bees wax and melt over the top of the rub-on and let dry. If it looks to heavy then reheat and gently scrap off some of the wax using the Popsicle stick. Reheat so it doesn’t show any marks. Let dry and then cut it out.

STEP 3
Take a desired piece of burlap, smear some paint onto it, and then let dry. Choose a color to go with your theme.

STEP 4
Take the lovely waxed image and layer it with some burlap and laces.  Then, add to your bag. I used a wine bag for my gift bag! They work lovely for gifts, too! 😉
