Doodler's Dream Starter Journal by Priscilla Lim

Have you been enjoying our matchup with StencilGirl Products?? We sure have, the diversity of the Starter Journal projects has been AWESOME. We LOVE the simplicity but AWESOMENESS of Crew Member Priscilla Lim ~ Doodler’s Dream Journal cover.

As a full time working mum, ME time are really precious. This is the reason why on most weekends, you will find that I’m always carrying an art journal and a whole bag of pens and markers for doodling.

An A5 journal will be the usual size that I carry around and the journal are usually quite thick. Thus I’m really glad that Canvas Corp has something similar (just slightly smaller than an A5) but with only 16 pages. That has help to shave off so much weight from my weekend bag.
I love the thickness of this 5×7 Kraft journal too as it withstand my 2 coats of paints and doodling pens without bleeding through the pages.
I’m excited to share with you what I did to the cover of this journal.

let the doodling begin

Supplies for Starter Journal cover

Start by positioning the stencil (Blueprints Archeological Treasures Small Stencil) to the cover. I have stick it on with washi tape and also used 2 bulldog clips to clip on the edges that are sticking up. Once you have done this, just randomly paint on the colors of your choice. Here, I’m using my favourite mix of green, pink, turquoise and white.

Applying first layer of paint

2 things to note: First, I did not have to prime my cover. Second, I have painted on 2 coats of paint to ensure that the colors stand out.

Applying second coat of paint through the stencil

Once dry, I have layered on another StencilGirl Products stencil; this time using the Timeless Stencil.

Outline through stencil

I proceeded to frame up all the boxes alternating between the black and white pens.

Using a white pen

Upon framing up all the boxes, it’s time to remove the stencil and start doodling!!

No stress, just doodling what ever comes to your mind. This this a close up picture of my cover. Hope you like what I have shared with you today. Stencils are such versatile craft tool. I can never get enough fun from them. I hope I have shared a different light on the usage of stencil today. Thanks for visiting this post.
