I. Love. Recipes.
I love baking recipes, chicken recipes, soup recipes, pastry recipes…I love them all. My pinboard is filled with the most glorious looking recipes. But I think one of my biggest issues when it comes to recipes is the fact that I never print them off! Sure, I have 100’s on my pinboard, but I’ve only actually completed a couple. I feel like if I printed them off and put them somewhere, I’d actually DO them rather than LOOK at them. Am I the only one that suffers from this?! (I realize that I have my iPhone, but there’s something different about reading a recipe off of a piece of paper rather than my phone…and I get to physically keep the recipe as something to come back to and make again).
These were some of the things the Canvas Corp design team though of when creating the Farmhouse Kitchen line…a place to store/display those beautiful recipes. Below is one idea on doing just that. It’s a tabbed book that was embellished with paper and burlap and designed to hold recipe cards/printouts/etc. The idea of this book is to house the recipes to one entire meal. So one page has the menu, one page has the soup recipe, one page has the side dish recipe, etc. On a side note, I really think this makes a great DIY bridal shower gift.
How adorable is that little cow? He definitely had to make the cover. I also love this vintage book stand from 7Gypsies because it’s so easy to keep the recipe displayed so that when you’re cooking, you don’t have to flip through pages or unlock iPhone screens.
This menu card is a cutout from a 12×12 sheet of paper called Farmhouse Kitchen Labels. It’s the perfect place to write the menu (aka. the table of contents of the book).
The main course page. I used a kraft bag to hold the recipe card. PS how convenient is that measurement conversion table (also from that 12×12 paper sheet I was talking about earlier)!
This collection also includes pre-printed 4″x6″ file folders that hold recipe cards perfectly. I used one here 🙂
Once again, I used a bag to hold the recipe cards, but this time did a horizontal layout. I actually really like it when items are overflowing from the book because it has that old fashion “used” feel to it.
These are just some of the pages from the recipe book, but you get the idea. Before you go, you’ve GOT to see the Farmhouse Kitchen Collection, seriously. It’s such a broad collection, and since it’s printed on black and ivory, you can mix it with any color palette.
Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!
P.S. Have you seen our new Farmhouse Kitchen LookBook, which includes more inspiring projects?
