We are excited to introduce you to Crew Member, Erin Reed. She is one of the spunkiest designers we know and we sure enjoy working with her. Erin is never afraid to try something new, she experiments with products just to see what they will do (and won’t do), she is quick with a great creative idea or solution and her products come from the heart.
Erin resides in Austin, Texas, where originality and talent are found everywhere. Home of the famous 6th street, Austin is a haven for amazing music and is called the live music capital of the world. Austin also gets sunshine more than 300 days of the year (most years, this year all the rain might change the stats a bit). Well Erin shines bright in Austin 365 days of the year.
Describe your design style…. I am a lifestyle crafter, which means I create things I need or want in my life, such as scrapbook layouts, cards, journal pages, kids crafts, costumes, home decor, gifts, gift bags, mixed media, wreaths, mini books, and tons more. With all my designs, I love layers and to get a bit gungy! My designs can go from clean and simple, to gunny and elegant; it really all depends my mood.
Who or what do you give credit to inspiring your creativity? My family. They are the my source of inspiration for ideas, support, love and putting me in the creative mood (either calm or frantic) to make amazing things!
What inspires you most today? There is no one source of inspiration for me, it is everyone and the world around me from nature, others’ art, pictures, people and more!
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? and why? Glimmer Mists – I can’t live without my mist!!!
What is your favorite project you have created using CCB Products?
Why is it your favorite? I don’t get to make projects of all my kids together, let alone my two girls (since one passed away before the other was born). I found a way to make something that both my girls could be in together, art therapy at it’s best!
Do you teach and if so tell us a bit about what you teach, where you go and some of your favorite places? I have taught in the past at various stores (local scrapbook stores, Michaels, Jo-Anns, Hobby Lobby, and my house) and hope to teach again in the future, so if you know of a place that wants a teacher in Central Texas let me know!!
I am the happiest doing….. My two favorite things in life are my family and to make projects, and when I can combine them together even better!!
My favorite place to be creative….. Inspiration comes to me from all over, but my happy place to create is in my studio right in the hub of my house in the mix of my family and all the fun, crazy, excited, frantic, and very few calm moments we all share together.
Tell us one cool detail about your studio or craft space… My studio is right in the middle of the house so I am right in the hub of my family’s life. This allows me to jump in and craft when I get a chance, and still be apart of what is going on!
Tell us one thing fun about you we might not know… I used to work on commercial ships. I navigated, hauled lines, swabbed the deck, maned the wheel, and I am a certified sailor (3rd mate)!!
Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others…. Crafting and art are my therapy. It is amazing how much getting your hands messy with paint and mists can soothe the soul! It got me through the hardest moment of my life, and it still helps center and calm me.
We ask each of our Crew members to create a 4×4 that represents their personal design style. Erin’s is filled with color, sparkle and represents her fun self.
We appreciate the way Erin sees the creative world, her fresh ideas and her willingness to jump in an help anytime, anywhere with anything!!!
