We are so excited to share with you the next featured crew member in our ongoing CCB series where we feature a member of the Canvas Corp Brands Creative Crew letting you see a glimpse into their creative world. Here you will see what inspires them, which mediums they enjoying working in and their favorite projects. We work with such an incredible group of diverse designers who love to share the latest techniques and show us new ways to use their creative supplies. Our crew spans across every corner of the globe, this brings a certain cultural element to our team and allows us to see a variety of creative views. Today our journey takes us to the tropical origin of Singapore, where we introduce you to a wonderful artist, Priscilla Lim
Priscilla is an amazing mixed media artist who brings a fabulous creative vibe to the crew. She gives paper a whole new look through a variety of layering and mixed media techniques. You will almost always see her three loves; of pastel colors, flowers and butterflies, in her works, which she attributes to her connection with the beauty of Mother Nature. Every layout that Priscilla does makes us want to dig out our supplies and start creating.
This is Priscilla’s second year as a CCB Crew Member. Her presence on our team has been filled us with so much inspiration. We love that she has been apart of our creative journey through sharing her wonderful world with us and our community from across the globe, we are so lucky to have her back for this second year. Our story continues to be written through our products, projects and through our incredible crew. We aren’t just building a crew with amazing designers, but building true relationships on this journey.
Everyone of our Crew Members was asked to create a 4×4 Canvas that represents themselves and their personal style.
What do you notice about Priscilla’s piece? We notice that some of her loves are layered through out it “Flowers,” and other elements that are gifted to us from Mother Nature; “Birds,”, in addition to soft hues laced with sandy tones which helped form this mixed media canvas. We love the texture that Priscilla added from shredded twine, lace and pearl garland.
Priscilla’s design style can best be described as…”I started scrapping many years back loving fussy cutting and layering. However, 2 years back with mixed media raging the crafting industry, I grew to love altering objects. It brings loads of satisfaction when I have beautified an item; giving it another new lease of life.
When I’m not altering stuff, you will find me going back to my good old basic of fussy cutting and layering.
I love working with pastel colors, flowers and butterflies. You will always find either one or all 3 items in my projects.
In the last 2 years, I realize that as my boy grew older, I started using less flowers on his scrap pages and went for bolder colors instead. A great test for someone who loves flowers and butterflies. Guess it’s good to challenge yourself and be out of your comfort zone once in a while..”
Priscilla was inspired most to be creative by….”Mother Nature has been my main inspiration. I feat my eyes on rainbows, flowers, clouds, butterflies and so much more for creative inspirations.
When it comes to mixed media, Finnabair was the one that got me into my mixed media journey. Till date, I still enjoy watching her creative process on You Tube.”
What inspires you most today? “Doodling and watercolouring are my latest craze. So I would say that anything that has got to do with doodling or water coloring inspires me.”
What is your favorite Canvas Corp Brand Product? My favourite Canvas Corp Brand has to be Tattered Angels. The glimmer mist are gorgeous and the shimmers are just so perfect. If I can only choose one product out of Tattered Angels. I would have to say the Glimmer Glam Glitter Paint, Chandelier. Paint it over any surface and it immediately creates a subtle bling giving the project a touch of glamour!”
What is one of your favorite Canvas Corp Brands Projects you have created?
This mixed media piece also incorporates some of Priscilla’s favorite elements: “Pastel Colors, Flowers and Butterflies” mixed with shimmery golds, shells and texture, giving this piece an enchanted seaside look. Its no wonder she chose this as one of her favorite CCB creations.
I am the happiest doing…..”I’m a happy girl as long as I’m crafting!”
My favorite place to be creative…..”Due to space constraint, I craft on my dining table, so I guess my favorite place will be the dining area.”
Share with us anything about your creative life that you feel would inspire others….”I started scrapping when my son was born 9 years ago with simple stickers; thinking that I only wanted to complete an album. I would never have thought that scrapping soon became my hobby and also a stress relieve portal.
I have never dealt with anything truly creative till I picked up scrapping and it came as a surprise that my interest has kept on going for so long. Really blessed that through the years, my creative juices has flowed generously allowing me to excel in my projects. I would never dream that I will come so far,it is a great honour for me to be part of some awesome design teams, not to mention…….Canvas Corp Brands.Really happy to be back with Canvas Corp for the second year! So folks out there, do not hesitate and doubt your own potential. You never know what you are capable of until you have tried and done it!”
