HELLO Friday and WELCOME to another Friday With Friends session.
Today we have Crew Member Jaine Drake!
She would like to introduce you to some of her friends over at WOW Embossing Powder in the UK
along with sharing a cool background technique at the same time.
In Jaine’s Words
I am in the very privileged position of being able to work with quite a few fantastic products one of these being WOW Embossing Powders who are based in the UK. Their range of colours and finishes is amazing and I absolutely love them. There’s nothing better out there in my opinion.
I also love how many of the products I use, work so well together. WOW and Canvas Corp Brands is a match made in heaven. Here I’ve picked a few of my favourite products along with my favourite colours. I created a card with a background twist.
I’m going to give my card a faux batik background as this is one of my all time favourite backgrounds to do. It does require a bit of work but the results are very convincing.

Step 1
On a piece of Canvas Corp Ivory Cardstock, I’ve stamped the text from a WOW stamp set called Wall Art . Then I heat embossed with Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.
Step 2
Next, I’ve taken some of my favourite Tattered Angels ~ Chalkboard sprays, Firefly, Splash and Inchworm and sprayed directly on the paper. I think three colours is enough otherwise it becomes very muddled. Let the spray drip and merge.
Step 3
Let it dry naturally, don’t be tempted to use the heat gun again. Now, with the spray totally dry, put a clean piece of plain copy paper over the artwork and gently iron over it. The embossing will melt into the paper and lift off the background. Keep the iron moving so as not to burn the paper.
Now you have a totally smooth and embossing free background. I love the artsy rough look to it.
Step 4
With the background smooth, once more I stamped my own Georgian House design and embossed with Opaque British Summer powder.
Step 5
I added a few details with paint pens and some text from a sheet of Architextures rub-ons called Build.
Step 6
I’ve had this chipboard corner in my stash for a while now after it came in a scrap pack. I wanted to add it on the card and thought it would be perfect embossed with Wow Embossing PowderMetallic Platinum.
Step 7
It looked just right on the front along with the words’ New Home’ in stickers.
I do hope you have a go at the faux batik background! Feel free to visit WOW Embossing Powders to see their full range of powders.
Thank you
Jaine

Cool technique to “remove” embossing to make the background smooth for additional stamping. Never would have thought of that. Nice details!
