Do you you have your planner ready to go for 2017 ? Maybe you are working on it this month to get ready for the upcoming year. Crew Member Sheila Rumney shares with us a great handmade organizer that has such a cool style. We see so many clean and contemporary planners and we think they are terrific, but our gypsy hearts tend to go for a little more rustic, vintage and quirky when possible and Sheila hit that right on the head with this project.
“Organizers can not only help you document your dreams, goals and steps to achieve them, but they can also beautifully showcase your own style. This organizer combines beautiful pages, pull out tags and plenty of places to journal in my own vintage style.” – Sheila Rumney

The Cover – I created the organizer cover using the 5 x 7″ Journal Cover and spritzed the cover with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Suede, Crocheted Doily and Verdigris for journal background. I then used e-flute in the Ordre Du Jour Mixed Media Pad and used the High Impact Paint in White to edge the e-flute. I then used a vintage millenary flower and brushed Verdigris Glimmer Mist for the center. Next I spritz the Suede and Crocheted Doily Glimmer Mist on the flower then allowed it to dry. Next I edged the petals with White High Impact Paint and let dry. Then I added glitter glue for a additional sparkle. Using the papers from the Ordre Du Jour Mixed Media Pad, I decorated the front of the cover and inside pages.
7gypsies offers blank journals and journal covers that make the perfect surfaces for creating your own planner, organizer, agenda, journal or mini book. The journal covers are offered in burlap and canvas and are blank with flaps on the inside front and back that let you slip cards or the starter journals right in. You can use just one or glue more than one book together and the cover will hold it all. These blank covers can be altered to fit your creative style. The books are made with kraft or ivory cardstock paper and sewn down the middle to give them a handmade look. Sheila used Canvas Corp’s Kraft Cards which measure 5″x7″ and can be put together to make a book as well, so many options. The Starter Journals also come in 8.5×11 size too.
The Book – The 5” x 7” Kraft Cards make the perfect insert for pages to adhere the papers to. I used the journal ephemera from Order Due Jour, Gypsy Moments, Just Thankful, Doodle, Bucket List and Just Idea. I then added vintage buttons, clock face, lace and canvas pieces.
The 7gypsies Ordre Du Jour (Order of the Day) collection is perfect for creating your own organizer projects with a vintage twist. Fun words, background papers, sayings and more. The Gypsy Moments Card collection was designed to give you cards you can fill out daily and add to your journal and each one let’s you personalize your planner your way. There is even a Cheat Sheet Cards – so you can confess those silly things that might have happened today:-)
Sheila walks you though a few details on creating the front cover:
Spritz flower with Crocheted Doily and Suede Glimmer Mist. Let dry. Then edge tips of petals with White High Impact Paint.
Then add glitter glue to add sparkle.
Add flowers, buttons, lace, paint, trims, cords, etc. to create the front of your journal on the canvas cover and you can event stitch items directly onto the cover or use a great fabric glue. Inside slip your blank book or cards in and begin to add sayings, journal entries, poems, paintings and other events of the day, week or month. You can use the papers to make tabs or divide your journal anyway you wish. Adding bit of burlap and layers of canvas gives a terrific handmade look too.
Happy Organizing!!!
