How to Make A Fall Leaf Wreath

Hanging a wreath on your front door can be a warm and inviting way to welcome guests into your home during the holiday seasons! There are wreaths that you can find ready-made in the stores, but it is so fun to be able to make your own and customize it to your own decorating style! You can make a lavish, over-the-top wreath, or keep it simple with just a few embellishments. Wreaths also look amazing inside your home! Hang it over the fireplace, a mirror, a repurposed window, or even on your cabinet doors. 

Today, our own Barb Housner shares with us how she made this warm fall wreath. We love the autumn color she chose and all the gorgeous leaves on this grapevine wreath!

Barb says, “Fall is a favorite time to create and I love to use leaves in my projects. I wanted to make a small wreath to take to my Aunt in the nursing home to add a touch of fall to her room.”

MATERIALS: 

Tattered Angels Calendar Mist Kit – Pumpkin Patch; High Impact Orange; Yellow – or any colors in reds, oranges, yellows, browns, greens and golds.
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist – Woven Burlap
Canvas Corp Cord- Jute Balls Natural

Hot glue
Old Book Pages
Gel Medium

STEP 1- Glue two pieces of old book pages together. This gives you a stronger base for the leaves you die cut. On this wreath, I used 10 large leaves and four small leaves. The amount will vary depending on the size grapevine wreath you use.  You can also use Canvas Corp Paper which is a nice weight cardstock in a wide range of prints and they are prefect for your favorite die cut machine.

STEP 2- Paint the leaves with coordinating paint to the sprays in the Pumpkin Patch kit. This just gives your leaves a deeper color.  The paints allow the designs and letters to show through.

STEP 3- Spray your leaves with the four different sprays from the Pumpkin Patch Kit.  This will add a touch of glimmer to each leaf.

STEP 4- Tear a narrow strip of coordinating fall colored fabric and make a small bow.

STEP 5- Make a bow out of the twine and glue the fabric bow on top. Place this bottom center of your wreath.

STEP 6- Divide up your leaves for each side. Play with the placement until you find what you like. Hot glue the leaves and bow to the wreath.

As Barb has shown us today, a few simple steps and materials can become a stunning piece of home decor! We are sure her Aunt will feel blessed every time she looks at it. What a heartwarming way to show you care!
