If you look back over my layouts from this design team year, you’d definitely notice I have a thing for screens. They are the perfect compliment to all of our great products.
This first layout shows using a screen in two ways – don’t let the mist go to waste, mist the screen to get the negative look and then flip it and stamp it for the positive image
Screens are perfect for adding subtle detail and pattern to a layout. I love to mist and then stamp over the screen for a perfectly aligned design. 
For this layout I used a template from Crafter’s Workshop and the script stamp from the Tattered Textures set. 
This last layout was a happy accident – I decided it was high time to clean my misting mat – it was so covered in dried mist, glaze and glam it would have been a stretch to call it pink. To make my life a little easier I sprayed it down with some water and that’s when the magic started to happen. I couldn’t let this melding of colors go to waste so I placed the screen in the middle of the puddle, then placed a piece of cardstock on top and brayed away. The result was a super fun and colorful background.
I used another stencil to layer just a bit of yellow for a pop of color.

Screens are definitely a theme in my projects also…so versatile and add just the right amount of punch!

OMGosh, what an awesome article. Never really thought of it – when my mat is finished with I usually get a papert towel and mop up the ink/etc so I can then make pretty coloured flowers out of it (it’s a good brand of towel so it works a treat). Never thought of these ideas. Awesome. Thanks for sharing and of course, inspiring me. 😉
